Ready.

At first I would be frightened and somewhat terrified. Provided the alien made no aggressive actions and attempts to signal friendly intent and the alien understands my gestures of friendly intent I would communicate as well as I could.
Once the fear, anticipation, and wonderment wore off I would become worried that I would be punished by the government for talking to the alien.

I would try and see if the alien has any interest in playing Dungeons and Dragons or maybe some other game. Why? Because games are a bonding agent and with a role playing game I can get a sense of a persons true self and inner soul. The game of D&D would be a way of measuring the aliens intent.

I would warn the alien that my government can not be trusted and they might want to dissect the person.

When we parted ways I would offer some trinket or bauble for them to take with them as a memento of the occasion.

Same here. I'm sure I'd NOT run away scared like a little bitch in such an encounter. I believe I'd do fairly well. My curiosity is bound to get me into alot of trouble in such a situation. Lots of fun... and stories for later! lol
