Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21064859 Schizophrenia spectrum disorder is a milder form that is triggered through emotional swings. It's basically a swing between bipolar and schizophrenia. I can still reason and feel emotions unlike people with full blown schizophrenia. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21064859 do you see things other cannot see? They are demeaning, but not commanding. They come from outside rather than inside my head. They are not easy to differentiate between real people talking. My fiance is schizoaffective and she hears people singing. |

I believe this to be my daughters condition. She's presenting exactly as my mother did. She has been in a group home since July, by her own choice and there isn't shit I can do about it. Looking back, I knew something was wrong for a long time but it wasn't until the past year that things got serious and worse for her. Tell us about the symptoms and tendencies that led to this diagnosis. What, if any medications are you on? |

I started manifesting symptoms at 26,which is right around the age it starts. I had a part time job with no benefits so I went unmediated. I experimented with vitamins and responded well to niacin treatment but didn't really start recovering until three years ago when I got diagnosed and medicated. Today, I take 60 mg of latuda which is a fairly low dose. I am able to still work for the moment. Get your daughter help as soon as you can. It might just save her life. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 47519679 United States 11/14/2015 06:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had delusional disorder/psychotic depression for about 15 years. I could barely function in society, and was convinced there were aliens reading my mind, as well as various other paranoid fantasies which came and went periodically. My mind was a 24-hour highlight reel of horrors. I was severely abused by my family as a child, but I also smoked a lot of marijuana and took LSD several times as a teenager, which I believe was a catalyst for my breakdown. Have you ever done LSD or any other hallucinogens? |

Good therapists are not going to hang the schizophrenia label around your neck if they can avoid it, because there is a stigma attached to it, and people mistakenly believe that it is permanent and incurable. A good therapist wants the patient to have hope and face his fears head-on, instead of just hanging his head and giving in to the demons. I am living proof that someone with severe psychosis can beat his demons. |

All I know is that I am remarkably better on the medication and intend to stay that way. |
