Florida is a floating land mass. Beneath the Earth under the Aquafier is brackish water ways keeps Florida a float with an EEb and flo between the Atlantic and the GOM. Wetlands constantly collapse into the aquafer and the vegetation rots and lend to the bacteria from the Iron oxide. The water smells like shit ! Many cities and most inland areas use wells for potable water use. Some places the brackish water has mixed in and is mostly unusable. Florida needs more desalination plants, really when you think about it, all coastal areas should run pumps to desalination plants and pump water via pipelines to drought heavy areas and the food belts. The byproduct is salt and water vapor the salt can be used for snow infested states for their iced roadways. Hell a lake can be built in Death Valley for that matter. Nice project and loads of jobs. Remember, it's been shown that RF waves can ignite and burn salt water. Steam generation plants can be built all over the place, using that tech, no excuses that desalination is TOO expensive ! The oceans are an endless fuel source for power and potable water for at least industrial and agricultural use. . |

Also wave and water current can be used to generate power to desalinate. . |

I have no doubt that development in florida needs to be controled and aquifers protected but beyond that the topic gets blurry. Paynes prairie comes to mind. The prairie had buffalo roaming on it and was a hunting ground for the indians then in the 1800's it rained alot, the typography changed, got plugged up and it filled to form a nearly 1800 acre lake alachua! Steamboats ferried tourist and goods across the lake, fancy hotels sprung up, then a funny thing happened the area experienced a dry period, the earth dried, cracked, and dirt and mud cut off the flow of water! I'ts now a 2100 acre prairie again! I've been there and it's crazy to see how much mother nature can chage things all on her own! So florida has always had very drastic, changeable topography and a balanced approach to the problem would seem good perhaps. |

"to enforce the Clean Water Act and the Clean Air Act. The E.P.A." The EPA and this Mamby Pamby act is all I needed to see. I've lived here since the late 60s. We've had some sink holes throughout the time since I've been here. I still pull from that deep aquifer to water my lawn and even though it has a strong sulfur smell when you let it stand the smell comes out of it and you can drink it either way. It hasn't diminished flow and I haven't seen an "Epidemic" of sink holes others than the significant one that swallowed the guy sleeping. Sounds like Chicken Little. I believe that aquifer originates way up in north Florida, maybe even Georgia and isn't feed solely by wetlands. It's easy to find something worth dying for. Do you have anything worth living for? |

Thank you for this OP. And I have a feeling that God is going to take care of it all, so don't worry too much. I'm in Florida. When I look around and try to see in to the future, I see water about 20' high, nice and clear, like in the Bahamas. I think the whole thing will just sink into the ocean. Where to move? Nowhere - God is going to clean the planet. Sodom & Gomrroah is everywhere now. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |

"According to our projections the West coast will go under any year now!" etc ..... And yet nothing ever happened. I bet nothing happens with this latest Florida hype, at least not for a long while. Sounds like more alarmism like recent "meat causes cancer" fiasco and Alex Jones hyping of "military takeover" back in September. Good thread and discussion, it just seems a bit over the top. I mean, to put things into perspective look at just how many elites and "power" people have mansions/properties in California. Lots of politicians and upper class Chinese as well. If California was geographically "doomed" these 1%ers would have "sold off" a long time ago, don't you think? Obviously these "elite" PTB people have access to more secret info than us commoners..... for example, the high level executives who "conveniently" didn't show up to work at the twin towers on 9/11. |
