Re: I'm African-American, ask me a question.
I'm an educated African-American man and I've been on GLP for about a month now. In a month's timeframe, I can see that many of the White American users do not like the African American population for various reasons.

Although these reasons are quite clear, I want to talk clear up many of the misconceptions of the life as an African-American man. I grew up in "The Hood." Newark, New Jersey to be exact. I now reside in Greensboro, North Carolina and I have a full-time job. So, I know what it feels like to be on both sides of the fence.

Ask me a question and I'll answer each honestly!

Hi OP. I'd like to know........why are so many black people so angry?

It all starts with our fathers. Growing up in the hood, I admit, I had no father in the home and my mother struggled to keep me and my siblings at bay. This was the same situation for a majority of my peers. We were all angry at our dads for not being there. For me, I used the anger I had as a motivational tactic. Others looked towards the streets.

Being in a gang fulfilled their need for a father. Selling drugs fulfilled the need for money. There's so many problems black children face in their communities and all around them are false solutions, if that makes sense.

A lot of us had to grow up quick and never properly learned how to let go of that anger and forgive.

That makes alot of sense to be, and I agree that the breakdown of the family unit is the cause of alot of the problems.

But, why are they angry at whites when we have nothing to do with their lack of keeping their families together?

We're angry at police brutality which is a fact. The media wants us to blame whites in general when all white people are not the problem. That goes back into what I said about generalization.

What white and black people need to understand is that we all have the same enemy. We need to unite against those who separate us. Only then will we achieve harmony.

Sadly, that sounds like a fairytale at this point. Divide and conquer is in full effect.
