I have a question ? Will ALL Satellites eventually Fall Back to Earth ?
Or do many of them just remain as space junk and never fall back to Earth ?

There must be Hundreds o Thousands of Satellites up there.

May the Power of the Swartz be with you all

Yes, Eventually they will lose the fight with gravity from the earths pull.

eventually they all do, and many have already.

the orbits become less circular over time, eventually skim the upper reaches of the atmosphere which greatly slows them and they fall back to Earth and usually burn up. To keep satellites in orbit require firing of rockets onboard to adjust orbit.

At the end of their fuel life they can use that fuel to park them in a higher orbit where they can remain for a long, long, LONG time.

Thank you for the answer to my question all my GLP brothers and sisters ! :)

It is greatly appreciated.

I would imagine the NUMBER of Satellites in space is classified? Guess will google it unless someone beats me to the punch.

For some reason, a light went on about some Scriptures in the KJV Bible regarding what some of the prophets of Old foretold about in the end of the age.

I was just theorizing that as they were inspired they wrote, so when they put in to words that the STARS WILL FALL FROM HEAVEN, they were writing down what they were inspired to.

Could there be something like a massive EMP via the SUN or Space WEAPONS of Man that could cause ALL SATELLITES to Fall to the Earth at ONCE ?

Imagine the sight as all of them are falling from the heavens at the same time.

Interesting. Thank you for sharing. I know there is a lot of space junk up there. More and more and more as technology abounds.

Seems to me that SPACE would be the best place for CHEMTRAILS if they are actually trying to block the Suns harmful rays as the Ozone and Atmosphere naturally change over time.

Cool beans.

All will except one.

The Moon.

It's eventualy going to fly away. And the Earth will stop rotating after that.

This definition makes our count much less because it includes only spacecraft and not debris that orbits the Earth. The Goddard Space Flight Center's lists 2,271 satellites currently in orbit. Russia has the most satellites currently in orbit, with 1,324 satellites, followed by the U.S. with 658.

There aren't hundreds of thousands of satellites but there are thousands. Many of them are dead pieces of junk that are just marking time before their orbit decays.

An EMP wouldn't cause them to all fall at once, although satellites that still have working reaction systems might become unresponsive and begin their inevitable decay.

Maybe an unusual solar flare could force a large number into a fast orbital decay. We'd probably be sorting out all kinds of events resulting from that kind of event.

Re: I have a question ? Will ALL Satellites eventually Fall Back to Earth ?
Yes. A satellite has a stable orbit as long as the centripetal force counteracting gravity (created by the objects velocity) exactly equals the gravitational pull.

As velocity decays (as it always does), gravity wins and the orbit will become unstable causing the object to spiral downward.

 Quoting: Dances With Fire

This is done with satellites already in high orbits (as in geo-synchronous) to get them out of the way for new satellites, not because they are at any risk of deorbiting anytime soon.

Low orbit satellites are typically deorbited on purpose (over the ocean) at the end of their lifetime.

Re: I have a question ? Will ALL Satellites eventually Fall Back to Earth ?
uhm what guys?

Kick a ball, it travels a certain distance and then stops. Why? Because the force you gave it to the ball got counteracted by something called friction aka matter rubbing matter and losing force as a result. In space there is no medium like air, there is no friction. Anything you kick will fly forever to the end of the universe including satellites. Now obviously there is the gravitational force, but all you need to do is to apply basic vector math of speed x gravity so the resulting force would be parallel to Earth and voila you got an infinite satellite.

Reasons for deorbiting i would guess
1. less space junk (obvious)
2. atmospheric friction(there is still atmosphere up there leading to friction leading to slowdown leading to not enough speed leading to gravitation winning leading to deorbiting)
3. other random forces(too many to count)

No. To fall to Earth they need a stationary flat Earth, and we all know the Earth is not stationary and flat, right?

That is exactly what the word falling means.

If you throw a ball all the time it is in the air (ignoring air resistance) it is free-falling.
If you threw it fast enough it would never come back, but it would still be falling, towards Earth, towards the Sun, towards the centre of the galaxy, etc.

I already outlined the reasons why some satellites may deorbit. A generic satellite in absence of other factors will not fall down in any meaningful amount of time, hence why we on Earth are still orbiting the Sun.
