Oh, and stop using expensive *imported* beer as the price point to compare, we have plenty of reasonable domestic beers here in Canuckistan that aren't an arm and a leg. Quoting: kaibosh I live in Minnesota. We are planning to move to northern Washington state next year because most of our kids live there. However, after reading this threat Canada is sounding pretty nice. We love the outdoors but have become tired of the extreme cold, property taxes, and rudeness that seems to prevail in people today. |

However, I doubt I will ever move back. Where in Wisconsin? I'm from the Appleton/Oshkosh area. :) Living in the south now... Madison mostly. Worked a fair bit in the Fox Valley. Very nice there. Camped (primitive) in many parts of the state for many years. I still consider it home as I know the taste of the soil. Did it taste like pee? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21596383 They ruined Detroit and now they are destroying Chicago, at least they mostly shoot each other. If this was anywhere but GLP I'd have instantly assumed this was a clever joke and laughed my ass off, but on this website I honestly can't tell between sarcasm and retardation anymore |

There is a serious ethnocentrism that exists down there. Up here it is more like being 'a part' of the world rather than being 'against' the world. Half year (summer) in Canada is calm, relaxed, lots of cool people, outdoor activities, festivals, music. Half year in U.S. is tense, have to carry my CCW pistol, forced to interact with stupid people and angry "minorities." Wish I could remain in Canada for the entire year, but still need to work. |

Yeah it costs more in canadian but 100 us turns into 180 canadian. And when you can buy a two story town house in the good part of town for 200k translates to 90k us.... I was in Canada in the summer of 2014 and found there to be a few subtle differences- so subtle it was hard to put my finger on it. So glad you posted this. Somebody complained that milk costs a few extra bucks. Oh well. I pay $1500 a month for my family's health insurance and that's with copays on visits and prescriptions PLUS a $5K a year deductible, which we always meet because my daughter has severe asthma and allergies. I figure I spend $35K a year on medical when it's all said and done. Yeah, I can pay a little extra for food and gas to avoid that. Where do I sign up? 35K? Wow! That is more than many of my friends raising families make. And we don't make much more than that either. Healthcare in the US is really a travesty. It needs to change. |

The people are friendly, but many will rip you off if you aren't familiar with the exchange rate. I never ventured too far into the country, but it's a beautiful yet barren place from what little I experienced.
