40 years in the USA, now a bit over 1 year in Canada...I'm surprised how different it is.

That's it, though. No more Americans, this is the last one we let through. Oh, and stop using expensive *imported* beer as the price point to compare, we have plenty of reasonable domestic beers here in Canuckistan that aren't an arm and a leg.

I live in Minnesota. We are planning to move to northern Washington state next year because most of our kids live there. However, after reading this threat Canada is sounding pretty nice.

We love the outdoors but have become tired of the extreme cold, property taxes, and rudeness that seems to prevail in people today.

Everything is subjective.
I loved my life in Wisconsin.
However, I doubt I will ever move back.

Where in Wisconsin?

I'm from the Appleton/Oshkosh area. :) Living in the south now...

Madison mostly.
Worked a fair bit in the Fox Valley.
Very nice there.
Camped (primitive) in many parts of the state for many years.
I still consider it home as I know the taste of the soil.

They ruined Detroit and now they are destroying Chicago, at least they mostly shoot each other.

I think Canada's grace maybe attributed to not producing radiological weaponry, although we sell the main ingredients which is like being a crack dealer to your own family for money, we breath the same air but living were thousands of bombs were tested can't be to healthy

Lived in Toronto for 18 months in the early 90's and loved the place.

Like New York, without the dirt and crime. And the Rats. Airport was a real dump then, but they have rebuilt much of it since. I can still picture the concrete falling underneath T1.

Snowbird here. Half year (summer) in Canada is calm, relaxed, lots of cool people, outdoor activities, festivals, music. Half year in U.S. is tense, have to carry my CCW pistol, forced to interact with stupid people and angry "minorities." Wish I could remain in Canada for the entire year, but still need to work.

Did I mention a gallon of milk is $7.59 or a 12-pack of beer is $27.

I paid $10.99 for 12 bottles of Moosehead in Wisconsin.
Now, 100 miles from the brewery, I pay $27 for the same 12 bottles.

You have to let them know about the currency differnce.
Yeah it costs more in canadian but 100 us turns into 180 canadian. And when you can buy a two story town house in the good part of town for 200k translates to 90k us....

Just dont buy in quebec.... never in my life have i seen such racisim in the civil world than quebec. From both the french and english. Hate is a past time to them.

Cool thread.

I left Canada for Hong Kong years ago and don't think I'll ever go back.

It's crowded, but the society is just much better run here, imo.

Morning, Nature Boy! Glad you're enjoying life in Canada. I haven't read through the whole thread yet, but looking forward to it. I was in Canada in the summer of 2014 and found there to be a few subtle differences- so subtle it was hard to put my finger on it. So glad you posted this. The fact that you say you will never move back intrigues me.

And there it is. Somebody complained that milk costs a few extra bucks. Oh well. I pay $1500 a month for my family's health insurance and that's with copays on visits and prescriptions PLUS a $5K a year deductible, which we always meet because my daughter has severe asthma and allergies. I figure I spend $35K a year on medical when it's all said and done. Yeah, I can pay a little extra for food and gas to avoid that. Where do I sign up?

I used to go to Canada most every weekend to party, when I lived in Upstate NY. The people are friendly, but many will rip you off if you aren't familiar with the exchange rate. I never ventured too far into the country, but it's a beautiful yet barren place from what little I experienced. It's too cold for me so I wouldn't want to live there & im awfully happy here in Texas, but I would love to visit again sometime.
