A little insight into the shooting from a former employee

Media says this location is Social Services; this is incorrect. Regional Center is a non-profit organizations that is not a state run program, meaning anyone despite income can qualify based on their developmental disability. Regional Center does provide funding for services such as OT, PT, Speech, day programs, job coaching, etc. Many parents have their kids assessed only to find that the child isn't severe enough to receive services. There is fair heading to fight the decision but rarely do parents win. This creates a lot of disgruntled parents or even those who are frustrated with their child's behaviors/disability. That's what I believe this is about, not a terrorist attack as most people probably assume. While working there, I had a caseload of 70+ and many of the parents wanted more than they were getting, were pissed off, or just plain at their wits end. Budgets have been cut for years for lack of funding; layoffs happen continuously. Just my two cents.
