Thank you for the perspective. After all these years, I'm burnt out, hurt, disillusioned, and sad for what my young ones are facing in todays world. I don't expect anyone to understand how that ties in with my wanting to quit my work. I can't really explain it to myself. I'm on a downer for the last few days, for some reason. Right there with you man. I just got passed over for a very well-deserved promotion today due to asinine office politics. I'm done.

My advice, go, enjoy life, someone else will fill your job, but no one can fill your family position.

Fuck office politics. My "office" is 60 feet off the ground in a snowstorm. We have our version of office politics. We usually settle it behind a construction trailer on a jobsite, or out in the front of a bar, with headlights as a backdrop. No disrespect intended, but it's the same basic bullshit no matter what job you do. Eventually, it all sucks ass.
