Outskirts of Knoxville, Tn - not a real high crime area. But damn there is a siren going every minute of the day. They seem to take a little break from midnight to 3 am, but then right back at it.
I guess revenue is preceded by the sounds of the chase. This new police state crap is messing with my sleep, and my peace of mind.

Laws for revenue should be separated from the laws that protect society. And no siren should be allowed for the revenue based laws.

There should also be a different enforcement department for the "laws for revenue" and they should be accountable for all their business dealings - with the full force of the "law that protects society".

End rant.

When I was a kid it was a treat to see a helicopter fly over head. Now its a daily occurrence, around and around and around and so on for no apparent reason. They don't seem to be bothered by all my neighbours tomato plants. Or the guy's up the street.

Round and around and around.

It also seems to me the noise from the siren and the new LED style flashing lights have a psychological effect on people. I know there are many tech leaps that have to do with sound and light warfare and I wonder if this is why the huge change in the tones of the sirens and the impact the lights have on your brain.

It's because to police probably stayed on the other side of the tracks from where you lived as a kid if you catch my drift

Agreed. The sound provides a visceral fear response for most, be it subconscious or not. It seems like free advertising at all taxation levels, a reminder of "services" provided.
