One Dead, Nine Injured After Avalanche Engulfs Ten Houses in Norway

An avalanche crashed into at least ten houses on the Norwegian Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, killing one person and injuring nine others on Saturday morning.

The avalanche rumbled down from a mountain above Longyearbyen, Svalbard’s biggest town.

Around 100 emergency workers and volunteers who rushed to the scene to dig through deep snow for victims.
