Jesus' Great Commission
Mt. 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Mt. 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in [Or into] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mt. 28:20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

In the Great Commission, Jesus commanded that two major work be done by his ministers on would-be disciples: 1) baptisms and 2) teaching them to obey his commandments. How well have ministers of the gospel been complying with the Great Commission?

I'll add that in John 20, He also gives us authority to issue forgiveness to people. Either we're not familiar with this key facet of our deputization, or we're just not that interested, I dunno. It doesn't really fit with our doom fixation.

Ac. 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Any person baptized by the ministers has been forgiven his/her sins.

Do you have any examples of which churches teach this? Absolutely crazy if true.

Re: Jesus' Great Commission
Mt. 24:45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?
Mt. 24:46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.
Mt. 24:47 I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
Mt. 24:48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, `My master is staying away a long time,’
Mt. 24:49 and he then begins to beat his fellow-servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.
Mt. 24:50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of.
Mt. 24:51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Jesus appointed ministers of the gospel to teach his people how to obey all his commandments. But a lot of the ministers are mostly focused on how to make money out of Jesus' people. Jesus said that he will assign such ministers a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Here is one example:

Imagine looking at Leonardo da Vinci’s famous Mona Lisa painting in the Louvre museum. Would you think of adding more brush strokes to it? Of course not! It was done by a master, so what could you possibly add to the painting to improve it?

In the same way, that is how we are to look at Jesus’ work on the cross. He cried out, “It is finished!” You cannot complete a completed work. You cannot finish a finished work. Our salvation is won. Our sins are all forgiven. We are made forever righteous by His blood. Christ paid completely and perfectly for our total forgiveness, righteousness and every blessing!

In fact, these three words, “It is finished”, come from one Greek word teleo. In the days of Jesus, a servant would use it when reporting to his master: “I have completed the work assigned to me.” (John 17:4) The word means, “It is finished, it stands finished and it will always be finished!” Perhaps the most significant meaning of teleo is how it is used by merchants: “The debt is paid in full!” When Jesus gave Himself on the cross, He met fully the righteous demands of the law. He paid our debts in full!

Today, it is not our works that will bring us the blessings. It is Christ’s finished work. Christian living is not about doing, but believing in His finished work. Under the law, we must do. Under grace, it is done!

For you to claim something didn't happen then take time to read this blog and figure out why the luciferians have gone to so much trouble to oppose Christianity. They fear the truth which is Jesus Christ.

Today, a number of churches no longer believe in baptisms and a number of churches say that obeying the commandments is no longer necessary because Jesus has obeyed for us all that need to be obeyed.
 Quoting: Agent of Light

John the Baptist, Jesus, and the Twelve preached the gospel of the kingdom to the Jews which required that the Jews first had to believe that Jesus was the messiah, repent and then be baptized to gain salvation. They had to be baptized because they were born into the law. Paul preached the gospel of grace and taught among the gentiles. Gentiles were not born under the law and did not have to earn salvation through any works of the law as the Jews did. (Circumcision, sacrifices, baptism, etc.) If you live by the law you die by the law, If you live in God's grace, the law has no control in our lives so there is no need for Jewish traditions to gain salvation. After the Resurrection of Jesus, there was no longer a distinction between Jews and gentiles and all who were born after Jesus' resurrection are boon under grace as the law was fulfilled in Jesus.

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)

Jesus' ministry was to the Jews

For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed (Romans 15.8)

Now I say, that Jesus Christ was a minister of the Circumcision (Jews) for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers, (Romans 15:8).

The Disciples were also sent to the Jews

These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.
(Matt 10:5-6)

John the Baptist, Jesus, and the 12 disciples preached the gospel of the kingdom. That is not the "Good News" for us today. It was however, "good news" for the Jews of that time because it was telling them that the King of Israel that had long been prophesied had arrived.

"Now in those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."For this is the one referred to by Isaiah the prophet when he said, "THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, 'MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT!'"…
(Matthew 3;2-3)

"From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (Matthew 4:17)

Jesus proclaimed repentance, baptism, and belief. Repentance was the first step in kingdom salvation (Matthew 3:2, 4:17; Mark 1:4, 15, 6:12; Luke 3:3, 5:32, 13:3, 5, 24.47). And Peter continued this message even after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension.

“And Peter said to them, “Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38).

He demanded that the Jews repent, be baptized, and believe (Acts 3:19). Water baptism was required for salvation in the gospel of the kingdom (Mark 1:4, 16:16; Acts 2:38, 8:34-38).

But even John was teaching of a coming new baptism:

"I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. (Matthew 3:11)

And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' (John 1:33)

And Jesus also:

For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1-5)

The ministry of Jesus and the twelve deciples was exclusively to the Jews.

"These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel." (Matthew 10:5-6).

And this mission to the Jews only continued for several years after the resurrection of Jesus as can be seen in Acts 11:19

" Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that broke out when Stephen was killed traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, spreading the word only among Jews."

And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. (Acts 8:1)

There is no evidence in the Bible that the 11 apostles ever preached to anyone but the Jews.

Now look at one of the key prophesies of Jesus since He said these things would occur within this generation.

Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. (Matthew 24:34)

Would Jesus lie to His followers? Of course not.

Jesus ended His list of things that were to come with this statement:

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)

The "Great Commission" found in the gospels was accomplished Jesus during their lifetimes (Within their generation) prior to 70 A.D.

And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs. (Mark 16:20).

if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant. (Col. 1:23)

The end Jesus was speaking of was the end of the Jewish age and rule under Mosaic law. That is the only thing jesus could have been talking about, because this is what His ministry and the words of all the prophets before Him were all about.

The Good News the Church shares today.

Paul preached the “gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20.24). Time and again Paul proclaimed that the gospel he preached was his gospel (Romans 2.16; 16.25; 2 Timothy 2.8; Galatians 2.2, 7; Galatians 1.11-12). The eleven apostles did not preach this gospel at first. The Bible tells us that they didn't until they had learned it from Paul (Acts 15.1, 5, 6-11).

Paul received this new message after meeting the resurrected Jesus on the road to Damascus where the risen Lord appeared to him and gave him a new message and a new mission.

"As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked.

“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
(Acts 9:3-6)

Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead (Galatians 1:1)

I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. (Galatians 1:11-12)

Paul was given a new gospel of grace and even refered to this as his gospel.

But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God

Now to Him who has the power to establish you according to my Gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret since the world began, (Romans 16:25)

Below is also another example of how Paul refers to this as his gospel.

"This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
" (Romans 2:16)

The Secret of the Gospel of the Grace of God

Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery secret which has been kept secret for long ages past, but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith; (Romans 16.25-26)

With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak (Ephesians 6.18-20).

Paul is now the apostle for the gentiles.

I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry (Romans 11.13)

“For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles–if indeed you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace which was given to me for you; that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit; to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel, of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of God’s grace which was given to me according to the working of His power. To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things;” (Ephesians 3.1-9).

At first there was disagreement among the apostles between what Paul was teaching and what they were. This debate can be found in Acts 15 (The Council at Jerusalem), but in the end it was agreed that the Gentiles were free from the requirements of the of the Jews for salvation. It was also decided that Paul and the others would minister to the gentiles and peter and the apostles would continue their ministry among the Jews.

After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

The council came to agreement that both Jews and gentiles are save through the same process. Through the grace of God.

Paul refers back to the debate in Galatians

On the contrary, they recognized that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised (gentiles), just as Peter had been to the circumcised(Jews). For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles. James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised.
(Gal 2 7-9)

This is the good news for us today.

"So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise."
(Galatians 3:26-29)

“Just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Therefore know that ONLY THOSE WHO ARE OF THE FAITH ARE SONS OF ABRAHAM. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.” (Galatians 3:6-9)

Paul’s gospel is a gospel of faith alone. A gospel of salvation that Christ died for our sins and rose again.

"Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures," (1 Corinthians 15.1-4)

Under this new message Baptism comes through the Holy Spirt, not through any effort of our own. There is no water baptism for today.

For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body--whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (1 Corinthians 12:13)

He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life
(Titus 3.5-7).

There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all (Ephesians 4.4-6).

Baptism is something we do on our own effort. It is the same as other works of salvation that were once required for salvation by the Jews. Circumcision, animal sacrifices, etc. The Bible tells us we can not be saved by works.

Eph. 2:8-9 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.

Gal. 2:16 - "know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified."

Rom. 4:3 - What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.

Rom. 9:31-32 - but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.

Rom. 11:6 - "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace."

In Acts, Peter acknowledges that Gentiles are given salvation.

“As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?”
When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.”
(Acts 11:15-18)

Notice there was no mention of water baptism. Only that the Gentiles were also granted the same gift through the Holy Spirit. It was a gift of the Holy Spirit that they received through faith alone.

So as we can see there were two different audiences and messages for each. John the Baptist, Jesus, and the remaining disciples clearly had a different mission than Paul and the Church today.
"A religion that gives nothing, costs nothing, and suffers nothing, is worth nothing." ~ Martin Luther

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." Philippians 2:3-4
