well the basic high energy radiation that people talk about
are Electromagnetic (like light waves and radio waves)
and then there are high energy sub-atomic particles.

so we have

Alpha Particles are high energy and are, in fact, in-tact Helium Nucleus (2 Protons bound together with 2 Neutrons).

Beta Particle are merely high energy Electrons.

and the 2 other types of high energy radiation are Electromagnetic (like light waves.) and they are:

X-Rays (the next higher energy above Light Waves),

and

Gamma Rays, which are exceedingly high energy radiation that
are the next high energy level above both light waves and X-Rays.
(there are negligible levels of Gamma-Rays produced in very
high energy Solar Flares .)

so far, now at 14:32 UTC, there is no indication of the CME arrival yet.

is predicting G3 Level Solar Storm conditions between 1500 and 1800 hrs. UTC Dec. 30

UPDATE: Energetic particle levels as measured by the Electron, Proton, and Alpha Monitor (EPAM) instrument on board the ACE spacecraft continues to gradually climb higher. This indicates that a coronal mass ejection (CME) is still in an approach phase and an impact to our geomagnetic field will be possible sometime during the next 24 hours. Great but are we expected to import it in a spreadsheet and create our own charts? Oh well I presume graphics output is coming...Like the CME hopefully.
