I work that many hours routinely and make less then 6 figures. *shrug* some people have all the luck.

But, a 40 workweek is a sham too. Can't have too much time on your hands to think. They don't like that

Another issue with this new job that I'm starting is that I have to move 8 hrs from home which is a real bummer for me since I traveled for my old job nearly all of 2015. Miss my family and my friends ... And my hobbies.

If you had your own business, it would be your life. There would be little, if any, separation between your life, life and your work life. You'd be living and breathing the business.

A lot of people work those kinds of hours routinely and don't give it a second thought. They are on call 24/7 365 as they can instantly be reached on their phone or computer. Sure, the compensation is generally good but, often it isn't and you want to keep your job so you just do it.

Know kids just out of college, grad school, medical school, law school, MBA programs making very little money and working long hours. If you ask them about it they tell you that this is what they have to do and knew to expect this kind of a life. They learn to work their life in around work and their work in around life. it is what it is.

Can you sustain a healthy life, working those hours? Will effect your family life, relationships in away that would be intolerable to either yourself or partner children? (if that's your situation). Is the sacrifice worth it, considering you can opt out at any time? Only you know the details of your existence and how you will truly be effected/not effected.

Personally, I wouldn't cope. I have to draw a line and my private time is important to me. I can't even hack being on call for the weekend. It turns everything upside down and puts me all out of sorts because I can't relax.

It will effect my life to the point that I will lose touch with the things that mean the most to me in life. But I already have lost all of those things traveling the entire year for my last job. I feel dead already in a lot of ways

I just quit a job that paid considerably less than that because it was consuming me. I had no time to do anything except work and think about work.

Screw it. I'd rather be poor and happy than have lots of toys and be miserable.

Questions like this always remind me of the story about the hospice nurses who made a list of top death bed regrets of their patients.

The number one regret for men was that most wish they hadn't worked so much and so hard. They wished they had spent more time enjoying life and family.

That sort of puts it in perspective for me. When your laying there about to die and remembering your life, what will you remember more? Working 70 hours a week for a big paycheck or doing something that made you happy?

During peak season in our warehouse, I work that many hours a week for 12.97 an hour.

Yes take it. Work it for 2 years then slow down. Sock away a lot of money and then enjoy your freedom for a bit rinse and repeat.

it really depend how labor intensive and mind stressing the job is. if u are goin to love the job ,its a go. if u have to pretend to smile everytime you step into work. then life is too long for u not to come up with a better plan.
