UD User ID: 70637969 United States 01/02/2016 12:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You're a TEASE! I'm still in CO temporarily, the businesses have been sold and the crew is gone leaving this place a ghost town! MOM and the dogs are all in Chile and the only people with me are the LMs MOM hired to keep me from doing stupid shit. I didn't even get to hunt this year because most of my gear is in Chile or has been put in long term storage. Back to retirement and trying to cope with a lack of Adrenalin. MMMM piggies in the freezer/smoker I'm jealous! Do you know anyone needing 60,000+sqft of living space and 600+ acres of land in CO. I can cut a good deal? |

KonspiracyKitty User ID: 70455163 United States 01/02/2016 08:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Damn, good on that Sheriff for saying what he's sad. I've heard some 911 calls placed by frightened women with an intruder in their house. They sometimes ask for permission to shoot the intruder, and the dispatcher gets all stuttery. If they respond directly to that question, they either give a flat out no or do their best to otherwise discourage the woman from shooting the person there to rape/murder her. I think if anyone has broken into your house, they have already proven to a reasonable person they are a threat to the occupant's life, and therefore could be legally shot by the homeowner. But nope. In some nations, like Australia (where you actually can own a firearm under specific, restrictive, draconian circumstances), you can't shoot an intruder under ANY (read: ANY) circumstances without getting a murder charge. You aren't allowed to use your firearm for self-defense. Ever. (Correct me if I'm wrong, Aussies.) In most states in the US, you have to provide a specific reason as to why you thought your life was in danger. The intruder being there isn't enough. "I saw a weapon," "He went into the kitchen and was grabbing a knife" or something like that. You need to prove he was either armed, actively strangling you, or in the process of obtaining a deadly weapon if you want to escape a murder charge. Otherwise it's Russian roulette if the responding officer is a dick and wants to charge you or not. It really shouldn't be that way. I wish more of our law enforcement, prosecutors, and judges thought like Mr. Judd. Last Edited by KonspiracyKitty on 01/02/2016 08:22 PM |
