Statoil probing chemical leak at Gullfaks North Sea project | |

According to Energy Voice, Statoil has assembled a team of technical experts to pinpoint where a 396 gallon, or about 1,500 liter, spill that released barrier fluid into the water began. Barrier fluid is used to lubricate and cool compressors. The fluid is categorized as persistent or very acutely toxic by the Norwegian Environmental Agency, Energy Voice added.
