Press conference at the "room of beni-shinju (deep red pearl)" of the Toyota Hilton Hotel at 3:20pm. Unreleased if filmed or recorded. ( I suspect the 30 June 1966 arrival date is correct.) Certain distortions in the timeline reporting maybe were made in error. However it does seem that if Paul were dead a significant pause would have been necessary to develop a workable plan to deal with the problem.

No, no devil. Just 'sold his soul' as in sold out. This remark was from his Beatle hating phase. There was also some comment about how he ended up surrounded by the same kind of people he hated when he was in school. John was always rebellious about some of the stuff the Beatles had to do, the 'nice' image and the people they had to be nice to because that was what Brian Epstein wanted them to do.

I'm really tired of people making the Beatles look like the drug gurus of the 60s. All they did was admit that they took drugs for a while, they didn't invent the drug culture or promote it. There was already psychedelic music coming from CA when the Beatles did Sgt. Pepper. The Beatles were trying to find a way to compete with the Byrds and other bands with that sound. The Beatles songs had very few drug references compared to other bands. They never encouraged people to take drugs. Why should they have lied about doing drugs when everyone else was doing it before them? They didn't invent the hippies or the hippie culture. In fact, George Harrison was really put off by the hippies in Haight Ashbury and basically made the comment that they should "take a bath, cut their hair, get a job" (a popular saying about the attitude of older people about hippies) Maybe not those exact words, but that was the message. He said something like- they were just a bunch of dirty, spotty kids on drugs who weren't doing anything productive.
There are a lot of positive messages the Beatles put out but I don't think they were trying to push their beliefs on anybody. They were just being themselves and being honest about who they were.
