Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71024908 World War is generally going to be between the two following Super powers. Who eventually fights on which side is up for debate TEAM A- RUssia/China/Arab Alliance vs TEAM B - Europe/USA/Nato Alliance. If we look at Syria, it could be said it is basically a proxy War over ensuring key strategic territory. Team A - (mostly Russia), see current interventions by Team B there as a direct threat. They have even said so just a few days ago. The Syrian crisis does have the potential to grow and grow, and if WW3 is coming in the next decade or so, I think history will see Syria as the start of it. BUT- if the USA changed direction, like imagine if Trump is not full of shit, gets in and ACTUALLY implements a policy of non intervention in foreign affairs- HOW COULD WW3 possibly begin. Without the US backing them - Europe and Nato would never be stupid enough to take on Russia, or provoke it via proxy wars near its borders. Without US involvement WW3 would likely never start in the first place. IN short - I am saying - maybe Trump is our only hope. Of course not. But the same could be said for Russia and possibly China & UK. It is all still a proxy between US & Russia. When the proxies get too hot the big boys battle. |

Its basically UK and Europe interests vs Russian Interests. As in WW1 and WW2 Without US baking though, maybe the UK and Europe would chill out and back away from the fire this time. And without Chinese and Arab backing, maybe Russia too would chill out and back away from the fire this time. I am not sure who is the real aggressor here, if anyone, or if everyone, but I do think that it might be possible that if the US decided to not be in the fight, the whole situation might diffuse into some sort of peaceful solution. I guess its super complicated though. So many historic treaties binding countries together. Maybe the US simply has to be involved due to treaties etc. |
