The miners are stuck at least 775 feet below the ground in an access shaft, according to the Ithaca Fire Department, which is also assisting officials in the rescue operation. Emergency staff has been in constant contact with the miners. First responders have been lowering food, blankets and other supplies down to the workers as the rescue operation continues. Tompkins County Emergency Response has requested a crane to be delivered to the site. All the elevator-related tragedies happening, lately...you notice that? It is bizarre.
