Any tips for peeling eggs?
Sometimes the shell comes off easy as butter, but other times it's difficult and sticks to the eggs.

Before you boil them, gently, and just barely, prick the shell with a safety pin.

Try steaming them instead of boiling. Eggs turn out perfect and are usually much easier to peel.

Re: Any tips for peeling eggs?
We have farm fresh eggs, and they are the hardest to peel because they are fresh.

Add 1/2 tsp of vinegar to the water when you boil them.

immediately after taking them out of the pot, put them in ice water.

When they cool, roll the egg on the counter so the whole shell is cracked.

Begin peeling from the big end - the shell should come off in one piece at the membrane.

Be sure to put the eggshells in your garden, or add to grounds when making coffee to get the benefit of the 875 mg of elemental calcium each shell contains.

This! Your eggs should be older, if possible. As the egg ages, moisture from within the egg evaporates leaving space between the egg innards and the shell. This space is necessary for an easy peeling egg.

Re: Any tips for peeling eggs?
Put the boiled eggs in ice cold water immediately out of the boiling water. Leave them there for 30-45 seconds. The shock causes the membrane between the shell and the white to isolate.

This without the blowing,
the eggs after the boiling should be rinsed in cold water but the technique with the two holes works best even with soft boiled eggs.

I add them to boiling water, boil for 15 minutes exactly. While boiling I add a bit of baking soda to the water. A teaspoon or more. Easy to Peel!

After you boil, run cold water over the eggs for a couple minutes. Makes them peel super easy.

Drop them in shallow boiling water so the shell cracks.

Re: Any tips for peeling eggs?
obviously no real chefs here. When you put the eggs in the water add about a teaspoon of salt (even a tablespoon - experiment with it) to the water.

Once the eggs have boiled, pour out the hot water and let the eggs sit in cold water for about a minute, then peel them. They always come off easy if you just add salt to the water.

Re: Any tips for peeling eggs?
Start off with cold water when you boil them. Add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to the water you boil them in.

After you boil them for about 8-10 minutes transfer them to a bowl of very cold water for a bout 10-15 minutes. They will peel very easily and cleanly.

Re: Any tips for peeling eggs?
OP here,

Thank you everyone for the tips!

Tried the salt added to the boiling water, and then leaving in cold water.

So much better now.

Will try the cider vineger tip later, to see if this is even better.

Didn't know about using the older eggs, the eggs I've been boiling are almost always fresh, so will also consider this.

Thanks again everyone!
