Let Freedom Ring User ID: 2527953 United States 01/07/2016 02:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We have farm fresh eggs, and they are the hardest to peel because they are fresh. Add 1/2 tsp of vinegar to the water when you boil them. immediately after taking them out of the pot, put them in ice water. When they cool, roll the egg on the counter so the whole shell is cracked. Begin peeling from the big end - the shell should come off in one piece at the membrane. Be sure to put the eggshells in your garden, or add to grounds when making coffee to get the benefit of the 875 mg of elemental calcium each shell contains. I read "peeing eggs" Goodbye, halcyon days... There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened. |

As the egg ages, moisture from within the egg evaporates leaving space between the egg innards and the shell. This space is necessary for an easy peeling egg. |

When you put the eggs in the water add about a teaspoon of salt (even a tablespoon - experiment with it) to the water. Once the eggs have boiled, pour out the hot water and let the eggs sit in cold water for about a minute, then peel them. They always come off easy if you just add salt to the water. |

Tried the salt added to the boiling water, and then leaving in cold water. So much better now. Will try the cider vineger tip later, to see if this is even better. Didn't know about using the older eggs, the eggs I've been boiling are almost always fresh, so will also consider this. Thanks again everyone! |
