I have always been a bread lover, but I felt like such shit waking up with the acid reflux and pains that I was ready to try anything. About three days after I cut out bread altogether, I felt much better. Today, just a week after I started, I feel completley healed. If anyone is suffering from what I was, I beg you to try it. I felt like I was dying or something. |

Fruits replace sugar and you feel gadzillion times more energetic and healthy and acid reflux gone. The holidays did me in... Have to get back on a healthy diet. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 65267488 The very first use of refined sugar was not in our diet. It was in the medical profession. They inject it into peoples veins. I did not know that! Interesting. I'm trying too but sugar is hard to give up. Any advice would be helpful OP? |

It really makes a big big big difference. Replace that shit with bacon, steak, baked potatoes with real butter ... and so forth. Lose weight, feel full, have energy. . |

Like bananas and oranges. There are some fruits that have a lower sugar content such as some of the berries and melons. Don't they all convert into glucose in the body? |

I'm trying too but sugar is hard to give up. Any advice would be helpful OP? The first two days was rough. I went and got a big pack of steaks, some block cheese and some mushrooms. I just powered through it, no real trick. It was not as bad because I love steak. And I drank really cold distilled water from the fridge, which tastes better than sweet drinks to me now. I basically eat some mixed nuts and jerky or beef during the day, and then at night I have eaten steak, chicken and pork. Vegetables are fine. Zero bread, rolls, sweets, no sugary condiments like ketchup. Mustard is fine. I lost 6 pounds and did not watch calories, just ate til I felt full. I do some weights after work and fifteen min of jumping jacks I guess it is kind of keto, but really it is just sugar. Carbs in vegetables seem fine. |

I love green apples, and I am going to test one a day out next month to see what happens. But yeah, many fruits trigger a lot of the same reactions as table sugar. Apples are low GI, I believe. |

It is you Sir that is a twat. I think the twat refers to the girl at work that told the OP it was unhealthy to quit sugar. You're ire is misdirected. . Then it is clear Sir that I am a Twat and my posting has now proven all my Twatery to all the the world. I am appalled and ashamed at my actions and will step down from any future posting duties within this thread. I can only hope that my Twatery has not tarnished the great reputation that GLP holds. I have tried to wean off suger before bit by bit and I always ended up failing. You get that sugar buzz and then crash and not eating more to feel normal is really hard. My energy level is very even now, it is great.I drink some black coffee because of the antioxidants and energy boost once in awhile. I always thought coffee was causing me to crash, but nope, little boost and I am back to feeling good. |

I also have reflux and it gets worse when I eat gluten, even though I'm not a celiac.. the more bread, the worse it gets... also alcohol.
