The Best team, in any match, is the one that gets the most points. No matter how they get them.

It kind of makes you wish the NCAA had a spring JV-team type of season that ran from March-May.

Instead of all of the 125 or so FBS teams participating maybe their could be the SEC, and a hodgepodge of some teams from the ACC, AAC, CUSA, Sun Belt, etc...

Arena Football starts in another few months, FWIW.

Figured Bama would win again. Though I hate Ohio State as a Penn State fan I wish they would have gotten into the playoff instead of MSU to represent the B1G... OSU layed an egg in the MSU game but most of the time they would have won I think. OSU vs Bama rematch would have been fun to watch. As a Penn State fan guess I just have to wait till next year again... have some good recruiting classes coming at least. Congrats to Bama though. That was a really fun game to watch.

True. Think beating Iowa in the B1G title game would have moved them over Oklahoma.

I mean, that was like, impossible ? But it happened nonetheless.

While it had no affect on Michigan and where they went (they wouldn't of made it to the playoff either or the B10 title game I don't think) don't think that wasn't lost on Urban Meyer last night.

He had a downright look of disgust and disappointment on his face last night while doing commentary (knowing full well that COULD would have been him and OSU in the playoff).

BTW, it is nice to see some actual "smack talk" and some "normal talk" on GLP from time to time too.

While I do not care for all of the breads and circuses out there I do appreciate good athletic competition and as far as I am concerned football is not breads and circuses, at least not college ball.

Now the pros and how a lot of them act, that is another story...

I didn't think something like that was going to happen either lol. Biggest fluke of the year probably. As a Michigan hater I probably laughed for about 10 minutes straight after it happened though. I imagine Harbaugh was as passed then as Meyer was last night.

Agreed. College ball is still primarily a pure sport (on the field).

This year has seen some really weird and unique game enders-in both pro and college.

That Michigan/MSU game was probably the most unexpected type of ending I had seen up until that point since Joe Pistarcik (sp ?) failed a kneel down and tried to give the ball to Larry Csonka only to have Herman Edwards pick up the ball and score a TD (Miracle at the Meadowlands).

College basketball is still pretty good though. I especially like how the players don't scream and bitch about everything in college ball. They shut their mouths and continue to play.

I am sick and tired of seeing guys bitch and moan in sports after every single play.

Mike Evans, perfect example.

Oh, BTW-There is some stupid Bucs blog trying to push some stupid so-called made up "rumor" that the Bucs are going to hire Nick Saban or Jimbo Fisher.

Like those two would leave where they are at to coach in the NFL.

Saban did it and was miserable and Fisher is on easy street up in Tallahassee.

No one would ever discount LSU. To do that would be a big mistake. There are only a few teams in all of college football that can even compete with LSU.

Ah yes, Booger McFarland and Michael Clayton. (Sorry, I have ad-block on overkill and did not see your tiger pic until i turned it off. In fact, I do not ever see any pictures here for the most part.)

One was a pretty good bloke that got injured too much (Booger) and the other was a head case that went downhill after a rookie season for the ages (Clayton).

I think Jon Gruden had a little to do with that though...

Pity that things are not what they used to be. I don't support any Pro sport except Hockey. Not even Pro Basketball anymore. Not since Larry and the Celtics.

I played on two championship teams in high school, the final two years of our coach's tenure in football. The coach's name? "Morgan Wootten" Google his name. He was the nation's winningest basketball coach in the country when he retired, and put high school basketball on the map when our school beat Lew Alicndor's (Kareem Abdul Jabbar) Power Memorial.

The dolt completely blew his assignment - not once, but twice! Two touchdowns resulted from his errors. The same player might have been involved in the dump off pass that went for 50 yards.

One guy missed the tackle and two players behind him froze instead of making sure the receiver didn't get outside.

It's all part of the game for sure. It just sucks when the two best teams are playing each other and one guy plays like he's on the worst team in the country.

I'd rather see both teams play well. They did except for the dope.

The second one was the most egregious. Two recievers, one right next to the other one, a CB is covering one and the other corner ?

About 20 yards away, completely oblivious he is about to not only blow a coverage, but completely lose sight of where his man even is.

That is why they have timeouts. I cannot believe nobody saw what was about to transpire and call a timeout. A busted coverage or a corner jumping a route is one thing but that is a total other...

I kind of disagree BC. The guy covering Dodd (#76 'bama) let Dodd get to Coker all night long. Bad coverage on both sides of the ball.

Other than the 50 yard run I was pretty impressed with how Clemson stuffed Henry throughout most of the game. Made him earn his yards after that big run.

On a side note, I am surprised no one has mentioned Clemson getting robbed of about 5-7 seconds late in the first half.

As a neutral observer I have to admit that was bad on the refs part. Clemson should have gotten a chance to get one more play down the field before settling for the FG attempt (which was partially blocked I think, hard to tell).

On another note, Clemson fans have got to be sick today.

Not just for losing but how they lost:

The WR that had the TD catch but could not hold on for one more micro second.

The clock botch job by the refs.

The partially blocked FG

The onsides kick recovery (talk about Saban playing chess and Swinney played checkers right there)

Not calling a timeout when the (2) WR's for Alabama had only one Clemson Tiger covering them.

If you take any two - TWO - of those plays away Clemson (probably) wins the game.

These were not forced turnovers, or a strip, or a corner jumping a route, or just being overpowered. These were unforced errors (other than the refs clock job) that Clemson pissed away.

Sometimes it is better to get beat 45-10 then 45-40.

I expected they would pay special attention to Henry, but he did still score 3 TDs, so...

I agree. He got good practice though at how a regular NFL defense performs though. 3 yards per carry when you subtract the 50 yarder but he had 38 damn carries!

If this was the NFL he would have been only a handful of carries away from setting a single game record.

I wonder if Coker will get a shot in the NFL though. Watson too.

The NFL puts too much a premium on arm strength and too little on whether or not a QB can actually make a legit throw downfield when he needs too so we'll see....
