I remember an interview with Martin Sheen where he stated that Charlie was born with the cord wrapped around his neck. Martin claimed that he took the newborn in his own hands from the doc/nurse and unwrapped the cord before giving him artificial respiration on his own. Sounds unbelievable, but I do remember Martin stating this when recounting Charlie's birth.
