Husband is in surgery, GLP keeping me sane

Hopefully you don't become a widow today? Wow. Guess that must be nerves talking because otherwise

Anyone coming here can look at some of the posts and feel sane in comparison.

It's for a blockage called 'the widowmaker'. The doctors caught just in time three years ago, but apparently the stent they put in has become clogged again. I'm in meltdown mode.

Praying in Jesus name fir a soon quick strong recovery for you husband and peace and trust in the Lord Jesus peace for both of you

The waiting is the worse :(

Some of us cope with inappropriate humour, to be sure. My mother and aunt were thrown out of sick kids when I was having my tonsils out.

I had the same prognosis by the heart doctor's 8 years ago. They said stents wouldn't work this time and I needed a triple bypass.Also the "widow maker"left coronary artery.

I said thanks but no thanks and went home to die......

That was 8 years ago!

What I did was to eliminate as much stress as possible,changed my diet and started supplementing like crazy!

I am 63 and holding my own!

Sometimes ,just sometimes surgery is NOT the answer!

PS; My former stents re-stenos-ed(closed back up)I was told.

Looks like its determined to live up to its namesake.

my dad had a quadruple by pass 28 years ago still alive.

my dad just had surgery on Monday thank the lord (and the surgeons) all went well I pray the same for you.

Sending positive vibes!

My husband is 65 and in excellent health. The doctor just explained to me his body makes too much plague.

Next Thursday he is scheduled for a double bypass. Saw the film. The last stent didn't hold - basically his heart's cells absorbed the stent plus he has blockage in another artery.

Doc said the surgery will give him another 20-30 years of life. Husband was ripe for a heart attack even though he exercises every day of his life and eats very healthy.

Had to laugh with the doc - I said how is it some people smoke 2 packs a day and live into their 80s and 90s? He laughed back - really has no idea.

And yes, GLP keep me sane. I'm from Wasilla, ALaska originally and if the Sarah Palin latest episode with her son and Donald Trump doesn't remind of insanity, I don't know what will.

Thanks again for your support. You guys are awesome. No, really....sometimes crazy but very lovable.

Get him a recliner if he don't have one...

he won't be able to sleep in a bed for at least 6 weeks...

the recliner will be the only place he finds peace.

I've known a few folks who had heart bypasses...

Also - be prepared to help him shower and clean himself after he uses the bathroom...

use only dial soap to clean him...

you would be surprised how much a person uses their chest to do things... and since they are gonna open it up... it's gonna be hard on him for a few weeks...


make sure when you treat this staples/surgery incision.. that you pretend you are working in a bio-lab with a 0% tolerance for bacteria and germs... wash your hands with Dial soap before changing his bandage... etc

he does not need to be lifting anything heavier than a television remote for 6 weeks...


the doctors will go over much of this with you...
