David Bowie impersonates other famous singers...(old cassette recording)

This is a fabulous gem for Bowie fans.

Disclaimer: I did a forum search for Bowie, and impersonates...nothing came up. And, I'm not about to sift through the "David Bowie is Dead" thread to find out if it was mentioned.

Years ago, Mark Saunders — a record producer and a close friend of my family — shared with my dad an unreleased audio clip of David Bowie doing impersonations in the studio during a 1985 session for the Absolute Beginners soundtrack.


A friend of mine posted this audio a few days ago and I finally had the time to listen tonight. What's so fun about this besides hearing Bowie laugh at himself and what he's attempting, is guessing who he's doing. You won't get any hints (unless you read the comment section) which I did not.

So, don't read the comments! Post who you think he's impersonating. I got about 80%. I thought for sure the last one (#7) was Tom Petty. I was wrong....
