You have to read the works of Paul carefully, as if a knife was held to your throat, and keep two things in mind: Spiritual cleanliness, and physical cleanliness. Which of the two is more important? The Jew's, they often confuse the two, and think because they are physically clean, they must be spiritually clean.

Physical cleanliness, was getting in the way of spiritual cleanliness, when preaching to the gentile. They where curious, but their love of previous habits, hard to break, made them stumble, as the Israelite's stumbled. So removing a few boulders and pebbles, from their path, was needed for a time.

A new question arises though, "If you love the Heavenly Father, and if you love the Messiah, Jesus Christ, then will you seek with all earnestly, to follow the Messiah's Doctrine, a Doctrine which is his Fathers Doctrine?". The Messiah came not to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it.

The Law is plain and practical, with reason behind every step, fulfilled with the mercy of the Doctrine, of Jesus Christ, which is his Fathers Doctrine, the Doctrine of our Heavenly Father, made manifest and brought out into the flesh, so that we be saved from a second death.

For the practicality of the Law, will save many as the Earth, grows increasingly foul, and our food stuffs become increasingly poisoned. That is the practical aspect of it, grounded in reason, and given to us not to be a burden, but out of love and concern for us, as the path ahead, will be difficult enough.
