$400.
Nice.
1TB is almost big enough for me to store all my negative karma comments.

Sorry if this was already addressed

But to transfer movies over that limit

You have to first reformat the disk

Please read below for instructions on how to do this:

The capacity of your external flash drive is large: 8GB, 16GB, or more. There is enough free space on the drive. You can copy the smaller files to the external drive just fine. Yet, when you attempt to copy a large file (4GB or larger) to the external drive, Windows gives you an error (such as: There is not enough free space on the drive, or similar.) Does this sound familiar?

If you experience such a problem, most probably it’s caused by the fact that your flash drive is formatted with the FAT32 file system. This type of a file system has a built-in limitation on the size of the files that it may contain. Although the total size of the files that you can copy to a FAT32 drive could be as large as 2TB (or the physical capacity of the drive, whichever is smaller), the size of each individual file may not exceed 4GB.

Chinese crap sucks ass anyways..

I bought 2 30GB USB sticks that were transformers...looked like the black cat/cassettes that went with 'Shockwave'.

Tried them in 4 different computers, could never get any system to even recognize the drives.

Ended up just taking out the 'USB' part from a different working stick and glued it into the transformer ones.

Based on the info you provided only, this is a likely cause.

I had the same problem, bought a usb stick with over 50 gigs, but couldn't transfer files over about 5 gigs.

This method should first be done to rule out the disk's true capacity.

You mentioned that in the original post, but didn't provide any verification or that link in the original post that this was indeed the case.

But simply having a 1 tb drive for that price, should've have sent an immediate alarm.

Re: WHY does eBay allow FAKE/FRAUDULENT USB devices to be sold on their site that do not exist in the tech market today? THEY KEEP FLAGS OFF?
So, my son asks me if I can get him a high capacity USB memory stick. He wants portability of his files and media for when he visits me.

I think sure, I will just go to eBay and find one that is reasonably priced and order him one.

I found one that looked to be decent. It has a 100% metal housing with a key chain fob. The greatest thing about it was that it claimed to be 1TB.

I thought wow! That is a lot of storage! Technology has come a long way! I ordered 3 of them at $22.00 each. I should have known it was to good to be true.

Here, I was getting such a great deal right?

NOT!!

My son informed me that I had been scammed. He verified this himself by writing large movie files to the disk I had given him, in multiple ways. The disk failed to accommodate them past 8G.

It appears that scammers have been duping unsuspecting people like me for years on this topic.

In reality, these flash drives contain at most 8G of usable space. The rest of the claimed capacity of this modified chip is simply writing any additional data OVER existing data or not at all. So If you get one of these, don't expect to be shocked when all of your information (photos, movies or large files) are suddenly gone forever or corrupted beyond imagination.

Below is an eBay article on the topic. Stay informed and don't be caught up in it like I was. Pass the word along to others. These scammer fraudulent sellers need to be stopped.

"This guide addresses the reality of a market flooded with fake capacity USB flash drives and flash memory cards."

[link to www.ebay.com.au]

If you are not getting your media storage devices from a trusted seller and/or are not paying a price which reflects the market trend, then you likely are NOT getting a valid item. Even name brand items are being fraudulently sold. As a buyer, you need to be extra cautious as to the item you are purchasing and the individual or company in which you buy from.

I have opened an eBay claim on this and hopefully in the future, I won't be so easily taken in.

I wrote this so that others too are aware of the deception going on as well. Many people don't realize the extent of this. If you doubt me, just go to eBay and see for yourself how many people are bidding or buying these inferior items. It is appalling.

I hope you left negative feedback.

When I do they always say okay we'll give you a credit or new freebie that is "actual item" if you take off the negative feedback. I always tell then "No" and that is why we have feedback to talk about scam artists like you".
 Quoting: Squonk1960

Unfortunately, NO. I didn't leave negative feedback. I learned of the issue AFTER I left feedback.

I did contact the seller and they said that I was the first person to complain.

They then contacted me again and said that they were done ordering from the company which sent them the product, because the have had nothing but issues with them. They said they were sorry and told me to perform refund options.

I think the seller was also taken in by this.

That is not always the case though.....sometimes the seller is aware of the issue and party to it.
 Quoting: Osmium76

I think you can change or revise your feedback. If I find a link to that, I'll come back and post it. Otherwise, I was probably wrong.

I learned my lesson. I just want all those other people operating on the assumption that this tech is valid and who are buying these things to get clued in too.

Really though, I would rather they pull this stuff off, like they did with the confederate flag. At least with the flag, people actually knew what they were getting and wanted it.
