We're going to lose about 50% of the jobs in this country because of technology and there's not a single thing anyone can do about it. People want $15 an hour to take orders at McDonalds. And while I really don't care what their wage is or how it affects the bottom line of a publicly traded company, two things will happen there. Those getting $15 will soon discover it's not enough. They will soon realize that $15 an hour is just enough to end all the entitlements yet not enough to cover the loss from entitlements. Minimum wage adjusted for inflation should be about $25 an hour. But is doesn't matter because #2. 2. McDonald's and everywhere else is going to replace all those people with iPads. Are you kidding me? a $500 employee that is never late, doesn't get sick, never gets hurt, doesn't need or want a paid vacation, and has zero need for any type of healthcare what so ever? I'd be looking into that like mad.

And you know who's going to be the first people affected by technology? There are two groups, those that reject it and those dependent on low wage menial task positions.

This country is finished because people are refusing to realize we are transitioning from wooden sailing ships to diesel steel ships and everyone is still thinking making wooden sailing ships is the way to go. The transition will be fast and severe. We could be looking at something like fast food replacing all cashier jobs in an 18 month period if they implement it.

And all that technology is fine and good, but people really need to be dual tracking their skill sets. Making a website or doing app development or IT work is great, but people really need to have some old school skills as well, like how to fix things, how to grow food, how to hunt, those sorts of things.

You are 100% correct about the masses giving up caring or knowing about civics, responsibility, and how the system is supposed to work. And with that we will get railroaded and oppressed.
