Nearly 40 Aspie with Debilitating Social Phobia - T Help?
I have been lurking on the forum for a little while, and thought I'd create a thread to share my story and ask for feedback.

I have Asperger's Syndrome and Social Phobia. I am fortunate enough to come equipped with a high I.Q., which I believe has helped me to navigate through life by "acting" - and by that I mean, producing appropriate behavioral response to social stimuli.

I've learned this by observing how "normal" people behave. Moreover, as an outside observer of life, first, and a participant in life, second, I've been able to identify the behavior patterns of socially successful people, and mimic these characteristics in a manner that appears more natural as I grow older. (Practice makes perfect!)

The issue is that it my behavior is only "natural" appearing in response to social stimuli. It is extraordinarily difficult to assume the role of the protagonist in my life's story, and initiate social engagement. I believe this is largely due to my often overwhelming social phobia. There are many days that I do not leave my house.

My question for the forum is this:

Has anyone part of this forum, also suffering from social phobia, had any success with testosterone supplementation? I am reluctant to use pharmaceuticals, but I am intrigued with the notion of more assertive behavior, increased virilization, and other associated physical benefits of testosterone.

I'd appreciate any feedback. Thank you very much.

Maybe smoke some green - it is not made by man and it seems to cure all of that stuff.

How's your sex drive at 40? I want to know when the libido dives, you still pop boners regularly like you did in your 20s?

In terms of social anxiety . Eat more vitamin A, K2 and supplement with D3 consume all three of these with a high fat meal for best absorption. The effect these three things have on a humans mental health is well documented

Oh and leave the Internet forever it's a cesspit, go live you're almost dead anyway

My sex drive it pretty decent. No libido issues. I probably had too much libido in my 20s. It's waned a bit since then, but still healthy (and frustrating). Boners when needed, and still morning wood.

I appreciate the tip on Vitamin A, K2 and D3. My mother tells me to consume D3 all the time. I suppose I will have to try that.

As far as leaving the internet forever... lol, I wish I could, but it's how I make my living! You're right about it being a cesspit, but I kinda like it :)

Have a great weekend, and thank you for your response.

Hello OP. It must be horrid to feel like a stranger in a strange land with neurotypicals. Recent research into oxytocin (via nasal spray) is proving to be very helpful in addressing social phobia..

ok so your an aspie,, like myself,

don't take ,, testosterone,, for gods sake,,

you will probly make an over assertive ass of yourself,.

bit like roid rage but an aspy version lol.,.

( now that dosnt sound fun does it, )

it will make you more anxed about your social situations

and probably more reactive... or overeactive to stimuli

in the enivirment you planning on socialising in,

( what I have found is ,,people feel threatened by , iq,,

and chalnged by it, make life easy for the norms,, and keep conversation small and light until you and they feel comfortable extending th convo into something a bit mor technical :)

Catch me on face book and hook up if you like .. send me a messege there ( lordinvaderzim )

you can always ask me more questions.. im actually experimenting going out myself,, these days,,,i call it social experiment,

I inject testosterone cypionate for a condition called secondary hypogonadism.

Once you start injecting T, your body will stop producing it naturally. It should only be used for medical reasons. There seems to be many men who start using T as they age hoping to improve energy and muscle mass.

I don't believe this will help your situation. You will need a very large dose to gain the traits you desire. This will lead to another issue, which is conversion of testosterone into estrogen. It will require anti aromatase inhibitors. They usually don't work like you might think.

Another option is anabolic steroids. These drugs can cause liver failure if you don't know what you're doing. Even if you get the dose right, your heart muscles will become super strong and can lead to heart problems.

Other drug options include benzodiazepines and other addictive substances.

The best option, in my opinion, is to put yourself in fearful situations and hope to gain a natural adaptation to your problems.

high iq, neurotypicals

you guys take yourselves waaaaaay to seriously

maybe do what the poster above suggested and smoke some weed

it's natural and helps with a lot of this type of stuff

also, it makes you realize that taking yourself seriously is one of the dumbest things you can do

let go, lighten up and enjoy the rest of your lives

Re: Nearly 40 Aspie with Debilitating Social Phobia - T Help?
Hey brother I had very bad social anxiety for years and what really helped me was cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness meditation.
I did my CBT at home by reading and completing a workbook as my anxiety was so bad that I didn't want to go to a therapist.
Overcoming Social Anxiety Step by Step is the book I used.
For meditation, just look on youtube for guided meditation videos to get you started then you can do it on your own.
You can google mindfulness meditation and find many studies of the proven benefits it has and one is reducing anxiety.

Good luck bro.

yes cock and ball torture is great, but I have found it best to wing it rather than take the typical approach offered by therapists.
