Re: Huge fireball seen in Canada and US
The LL chondrites are a group of stony meteorites, the least abundant group of the ordinary chondrites, accounting for about 10–11% of observed ordinary-chondrite falls and 8–9% of all meteorite falls (see meteorite fall statistics). The ordinary chondrites are thought to have originated from three parent asteroids, with the fragments making up the H chondrite, L chondrite and LL chondrite groups respectively. The Chelyabinsk meteor is a LL chondrite meteor. [link to en.m.wikipedia.org (secure)]

Do you understand that the Russia meteor is designated a super bolide?

Read that outloud.

What can they get away with by renaming it super bowl 50 instead of super bowl L......?

Was once presented with one maybe a little bigger right before my eyes - it is a heart stopping moment realizing the universe is showing itself to you personally. The last thing that was on my mind was filming it with my cameraphone in my hand. It is unicorn/powerball rare to have one shoot by right in front of you but looking back, I would prefer the money and the penis head horse.

Re: Huge fireball seen in Canada and US
that was a small one. a huge one would have lit up the entire sky and night would have turned to day

in reality that was probably a fist sized object, or even smaller, that would have impacted the earth as tiny fragments, or dust even.

the only ones that 'impact', i mean REALLY impact, are ones the size of about half a football pitch and bigger, and let's hope when one does, we get a chance to start threads about it

Re: Huge fireball seen in Canada and US
I saw it last evening at 6:17 PM eastern time, US. My location was on the southern city border looking northward. It passed from east towards westward, slightly downward. Bright white then yellow and then green before it burnt out. No sound as it passed by or burnt out. Had a few small embers fall off as it passed by. Didn't seem to make impact.

Well, they're weirdly clustered I would say. If it was a band across the globe they should be over Russia/Asia too.

this clustering follows population density -- more people, more sightings; there are not as many people in the desert compared to the large metropolis

That makes sense, up to a point. But there are large population centres in Russia and China too, it's not as if all Asia is some kind of wasteland. So it would be very strange if no sightings had been reported from these countries at all. What I think is more likely is that the map only represents sightings reported to one or several Western organizations and doesn't take into account sightings reported elsewhere.
