Surely Russia isn't going to invade Latvia for the sake of occupying the country. They are gone: first they seceded after 1917, and then taken over again in 1940, and never properly happy ever since, being one of the first republics to revolt against the Soviet rule during Perestroika. Local Russian population, notoriously discriminated, has mostly either left or started to assimilate gradually (there are about 260K holders of the alien passport there [those who are not given full citizen rights, and those are ethnic Russians mainly], compared to 750K right after their secession). So while the bastards definitely deserve a beating, the moment is hopelessly lost.

On the other hand, if NATO pushes Russia into an open all-out war one way or another, taking Latvia should be probably one of the first steps on the way towards occupying Europe, so what they are actually playing with is a WWIII scenario, not some random Russian aggression. They keep saying Russia is unpredictable, while it is perfectly predictable and they know it, just to fool their own population into thinking that the strange military preparations they are making are seemingly illogical because the threat is so unpredictable, while in reality they appear to be putting their assets in place for the final standoff with Russia.

You need to get to Warsaw first. Lukashenko hasn't been an unconditional ally of Russia, and now he's afraid after the war with the Ukraine. He's a weak node in the chain, he will be hesitating whom to support if it comes to a real war. So Russia can't expect to use Belorussian territory safely to advance westwards, unless Belorussia is attacked by NATO first. Attacking Poland from Kaliningrad before a supply route is ensured is a suicide. So the Baltics will be probably hit first.
