They are all horrifying - but this was the most horrifying IMO.

In 1875, a mouse suddenly dashed onto a table in a South London factory and caused many of the workers to scream and flee. A gallant young man went to catch the mouse, but lost grip of it. The mouse ran up his sleeve and onto his chest.

The man's mouth was open in surprise, and the mouse ran into his mouth and down into his throat. As the Manchester Evening News reported, "The mouse began to tear and bite inside the man's throat and chest, and the result was that the unfortunate fellow died after a little time in horrible agony."

damned

The wood chipper one is horrid too. Poor dude.

The link does not work correctly because it loads the slideshow from the end.

Maybe this link works better:

Nope, it's still starting the slideshow from the end.

This happens to me also. I figured out that if you link to one of those slideshow articles after you've read it, it links to the back page of it.

The reason the first link I gave did not work--even though I was linking to the slideshow's first page--is that it only remembers the end of it in the link.

I had to go to google, type in the name of the article and the website, and it took me to the beginning page. Then it let me link to the first slideshow page because it technically hadn't been looked at yet after I went to google looking for it.

Awesome stories! I witnessed a guy fall from a roof while doing roofing.

I couldnt stop laughing because he was convulsing on the ground and looked like he was break dancing. Crazy day!

Re: Workplace Fatalities: 20 Horrifying Stories of People Who Died on the Job
True story: several years ago, my sister worked in an office and one day her & another secretary/coworker were moving stuff out of a vacant office. There was a desk with one of those glass toppers (the big sheet of glass that sits on top of the desk surface to protect it), and they decided to move it on their own, so they each picked up an end. As they were carrying it, coworker's end slipped out of her hand, they dropped it, and naturally, the glass broke. A large shard flew up and hit coworker in the neck, and it hit a jugular vein. They called 911, but she bled to death before the ambulance could even get there. My sister and the other ladies in the office couldn't do anything to help her or stop the bleeding, and basically just had to sit there with her while she died. She was in her 20s, married and had 2 kids. Just going in to work at a regular job on a regular day, and some fucking crazy accident kills her.

My sister tried, but she couldn't continue working there after that, and she quit about a week later.

Re: Workplace Fatalities: 20 Horrifying Stories of People Who Died on the Job
When I was 20 I was pregnant with my son. I was working and going to school at Red Rocks Community College. There was a long corridor that had large glass windows on each side. It was like a long bridge with windows. One day I was standing on the bridge looking out the windows and talking to a friend. Then, this poor man who was working on the roof, fell off the roof and landed on his head. He broke his neck. We called the ambulance. They got there quickly. We watched them work on the poor guy - but sadly he passed away. It took me years to get over seeing that. I felt so bad for the poor man and his family. I still think about them every now and then.

Yeah. Liveleak has other amazing vids that aren't, though. And they have a filter that asks you to click continue before a vid you don't want to see plays.

Re: Workplace Fatalities: 20 Horrifying Stories of People Who Died on the Job
Both my father and grandfather were pipe fitters and were on the Prudential Tower job in Boston back in the '70's. An ironworker fell 20-30 stories down an elevator shaft and landed right near where my grandfather was welding. On a different job my father lost a couple of his crew when they were working in a trench removing a future cap that they thought was safe to remove, but it had high pressure steam behind it. Both of them were roasted before they knew what hit them. I've had a couple of close calls myself. You never know what kind of situation you might find yourself in in this sort of trade.

“All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter.” ~ Max Planck
