Re: What have you all learnt by growing older?
i've learned that there are few people in our lives that deserve our trust.

many bridges burned, by my hand, and I do not regret... it's only a matter of time before people show you their true colors.

also I've learned (to believe) that there is no higher purpose to our existence here on earth, other than to feed the system the "elite" have created and run for eons.

A fatal-ish viewpoint, the cup half-empty.

Judge Mills Lane: Life is like a deck of cards,
Take the hand you are dealt and
Play the best you can with it.

Follow the moral codes you believe in,
Try to find the good things in life and love those you can.

You can't change people. They will do what they want to do no matter how convincing your argument, how damning the evidence, or how eloquently you state your case. A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.

Not to be so damn sure of things. Life has a way of surprising you and letting you know that you dont know half the shit you thought you did. Just try to stay humble I'd say.

I learnt that it's spelled learned. Other than that, nothing of use.0
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63577570

You're uneducated and rude. Maybe this will help:

Learned vs. learnt

Learned is the more common past tense and past participle of the verb learn. Learnt is a variant especially common outside North America. In British writing, it appears about once for every three instances of learned.

Oxford Dictionary:

Learnt or learned?

These are alternative forms of the past tense and past participle of the verb learn. Both are acceptable.

I know spell tards make me fucking irritable. Learnt or learned are acceptable, but learnt is more commonly used in British English.

But does it ever dawn on you fucks people intentionally misspell for titles?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71385074

I get annoyed, too, OP. When my older child was young, I noticed she couldn't spell. I won spelling bees when I was in grade school, so I was concerned. I made A's in school, she made A's, B's and C's.

As a teenager, she didn't get any better. I had the school test her reading only because I noticed she had a problem there, too; the counselor told me she was fine. I hired a private tutor who believed that if children are not taught phonics early in school, they have a problem. I remember her grade school did NOT teach phonics; they learned by sight.

Her reading improved with the tutor, but she still had a problem with spelling. Sometimes I thought she was just being careless. She graduated high school, went on to college, and after 2 1/2 years, dropped out. Her grades weren't good.

Now I was really concerned and thought, "She's not going to amount to anything!" I will have to support her the rest of her life, and we weren't wealthy at the time!

She married, had a child. Unfortunately, her husband died in an accident. She now knew she had to survive and was determined. She started her own online business, designed and maintained her own website, and within three years she was a multimillionaire. She is so much smarter than I am. I can't even comprehend some of the things she tries to explain to me. She's quite the business woman. She owns land plus about five homes besides the huge one in which she lives.

She is brilliant, active in her community, and sociable. She's a better mother than I ever was, and raised her child to be a leader. He's very smart.

THAT'S WHAT I LEARNED! Never judge your kids or anyone by the way they spell. They're not stupid; they are probably brilliant. Einstein couldn't spell, along with many famous people. Just google, "Famous people who are dyslexic."

 Quoting: BRIEF

Several years ago I was shopping in a thrift store and saw a couple with a child, about two years old. I told them I had a grandson, and if they needed anything for their son, I would gladly give them whatever they needed. He was a little older than their boy.

She gave me her telephone number, and I eventually called her. By then she said they had a daughter, so I gathered really beautiful baby girl clothes from friends, plus the nice clothes from my grandson. I bought books and a few toys and went to where they were. She said her husband worked for a farmer, so he was at work.

OMG....they lived in one room in a scary, run-down motel. The TV was on, the little boy had no books, no toys, but was watching TV. The baby was about 2-3 months old. When I talked to the baby, she made no eye contact what-so-ever. The mother was feeding her a bottle while the baby laid on the bed; mom wasn't holding her.

There was a McDonald's nearby, so I went and bought them food. She didn't want to go to a restaurant...the baby was too young. Since they were in one room with almost no closet space, I asked her where they keep their winter clothes, coats, etc. She said, "Oh, we keep them in storage along with our furniture." I asked how much they pay for storage....$300 a month!

THAT was money they could have spent on an apartment. There would have been decent, but inexpensive housing in that area.

Like you said...the poor do not know how to spend their money. I know they had family because I asked, but I can't remember why she said they couldn't live with them. She made it sound like the way they were living in that filthy hotel was fine with her. I felt so very sorry for the kids.

Look into Astro*Carto*Graphy....

Have them select a place for you, and ask Robert (the astrologer) to comment on where you should live. Or choose three cities and they will tell you which is better. For him to comment costs very little extra. They do it according to your birthplace and birthdate/time of birth. If you have questions, email them or call. They're in the UK. Robert was just in India last week for a conference on it. I was having them do the three cities for a relative, and I had to wait for him to return from India to interpret the readings. Read where he was in India on the above page.

Here's another page...right side:

I could not understand the map when I sent for that several years ago, so I don't recommend it. The three cities is what we've been using. Make sure you ask that Robert comments, also. [link to www.astrocartography.co.uk]

Two things:

One - the importance of language, and the ability to speak, read and write properly is the key to everything else.

Two - People are always becoming less free as time goes on. They might grant some irrelevant freedoms (Like gay marriage or marijuana use), but the important rights are gradually taken away from you. There are things you do nowadays that you don't even think about which will become illegal at some point in your life and you will wonder how it happened. They always says it is in your best interest.

Having spent several years of my youth tripping on one substance or another.. as i look back from several decades hence i realise that reality is nothing more than an illusion caused by lack of drugs.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71385254

Post of the year!

Sex and the right drugs are the pathway to discovering God, and the reward for daring to do so.

The entire political, religious, and economic structure is designed to get you to buy things to "attract" sex and the feelings of drugs, without actually giving you value in return, only the fake hope of getting there eventually.

Smart folks learn early and take a different path. Perhaps the robot sex trend is a beginning. Electrosex is another. Inventing your own drugs can get past the legal barriers.

"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law", with consequences for some mistakes, though.

Get sex early and often to the point of actually satiating on it, because doing so later in life may never be possible.

Agreed. A thought on point one is that one thinks IN the language and the culture. To be truly broad, one needs to make the effort, and it's an immense effort, to learn as best possible to be competent in a very different language - English and Chinese come to mind, or any other pair that are so totally opposite. Learn the other culture also, and you will be able to think and move in circles that you couldn't otherwise imagine.

All drugs need to be legal, and government needs to be barred from protecting people from themselves. When you make cars safer, people drive worse, and distract themselves to keep the real risk right where it was. Taking full responsibility for your life will lead to the greatest freedom, though not necessarily happiness. That's a different path.

I learned that the world revolves around shameless greed & it's "every man for himself". I can honestly say that over the last 25 years everything I knew growing up has changed for the worse.

There is no more face to face or voice to voice communication if you have a problem with a particular service. Whereas in the past a company would go beyond for their customers to keep them happy. Today they couldn't care less if you stayed with them or didn't.

With all the advances that we've made in technology in recent tears, we've lost our commonsense & common courtesy...

Lastly politically correct nonsense has turned this country into an "Orwellian nightmare". As someone recently said.

I think the world was a much better place when I was a child in the 80's.
