Stink Finger (OP) User ID: 70953810 United States 05/16/2016 11:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thank everyone for the help. I have stopped my craziness. I don’t drink as much anymore. What really scared me was that I drove home from the bar that evening. I think complete abstinence is not realistic. I am not an alcoholic and most people that drink just have a bad habit. I have learned to only drink when its responsible and in moderation. I was going to go to a AA meeting then I realized that I was a strong individual that did not need a fake group meeting to fix me. It represents my belief in personal freedom and my sense of individuality. What is this! Shitload of mashed potatoes day? |

It is an addiction which some can handle and some cannot. I can't or won't stop once I've had one. The only way for me to not get drunk is to not drink at all. Most people are like that, but alcohol is a socially acceptable activity. Few people can actually say one is enough. Some have found that chocolate candy, specifically chocolate covered cherries, lessened their craving for alcohol. My aunt used to leave a box of them on her husbands bedside table a couple of times a week. He snorffed ALL of them down and didn't get drunk that day. He never knew her motive for leaving the chocolate; she knew if she told him he would not eat them since he loved to drink and had no intention of quitting. There is a medical substance that causes violent vomiting if one drinks after taking it. We thought she should get some of that stuff for him but she said he would kill her if she did that. Perhaps one or both of these strategies might help you, since you have a desire to stay sober. I hope you are successful in you quest for sobriety; it is not easy if you have been addicted as you say.
