(WVLT) - The first woman in Tennessee to enlist as a combat engineer in the Army went AWOL according to a military spokesperson. snip The U.S. Army had just lifted its ban on women in combat roles when she walked into a recruiting office in Knoxville and decided to enlist as a combat engineer. Lopez was in basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. An Army spokesperson tells Local 8 News that Private Lopez was scheduled to return from convalescent leave on January 4th. She was reported absent without leave (AWOL) on January 5th after she failed to return. snip Back in July of 2015, Lopez told us she knew her decision was unique. "It makes me feel really excited that no woman has ever done it before." snip She said, "You make sacrifices your whole life for your children and for your family, this will be a sacrifice... Women can do anything they set their mind to just as well as men I don't really see any difference at all. I hope women will want to join." Public should be told. Obama is lying to you. Women in military DO NOT compete for the same job with same standards as men.. Mostly military jobs are physically demanding so require certain level of physicality. Men and women DO NOT take the same physical fitness test as men so a woman who is 100% on woman's physical fitness test might not make even a bare minimal on men's test. |

But the male body it totally different from the female body. It is a major hygiene issue. Sometimes you have to spend DAYS in the field. Imagine not being able to bathe for 5 or so days. Wet wipes are helpful but the female body needs more than that to stay clean. Women can get yeast infections, UTI'S and etc if they do not clean properly. I have been in the field before, but no longer than 5 days. I just couldn't imagine having my curse at the same time. That would suck |

Quoting: anonymous 70801817 I think the combat engineers have something called "sapper's school" that's supposed to be just as tough as Ranger School, but with a lot more real skills to be learned (demolitions, etc), not just grunt stuff. |

This whole 'women in combat' thing is ridiculous. Everyone knows some girl that could kick every dude's ass, but real life don't work that way. We're built differently for a reason. I wish we'd stop messing with that. Don't be superstitious. It's unlucky. |

Other than nurse or doctor?? Even cooks have been known to have to pick up rifles and fight back the hordes over running bases. These little girls are a handicapped to every man around them. I'm not even being sexist. No man under 150 pounds at least should be a soldier either. Just too damn small. Little guys can't even pull the bolt back on a .50 cal one handed. |

Probably toxic food and chemicals from all the crap we have at home and work. Healthy women manage to go camping in the woods and not die of uti or yeast infection. The vagina is self cleaning. Its not an open wound ffs. We have no particular need of hot showers every day. We just like them. We evolved out of caves and deserts just as men did. We can be dirty and survive. My choice, in that situation, would be to turn the whole period thing off. Hormones. One shot, no pregnancy, no periods. Wasting away again in bodhichittaville... |
