The child support system needs to be revised. The mother should be forced to pay just as much as the father. It should be an even 50/50 split.

Instead of 18 years of making child support payments, two people lost their lives, one completely innocent. He loses his life , so many more years than 18. He really should have thought this out. Logic, always wins!

In most states, it depends on who has primary placement of the child. Where I live, 50/50 is assumed, and, unless there is a very large difference in income, each is expected to provide for the child while they have him/ her in their placement and to share school, medical, and misc. expenses.

The difference is, though, if one parent can be a full-time parent and the other is working. Obviously, the stay at home parent gets primary placement (since they can be at home more with the child) and the other parent is asked to pay for that percentage of the child's life (which includes electricity & water the child uses, need for a bigger home to accommodate child, gas to school and doctors appointments, sports activities, etc). Non- custodial parents don't take the true cost of a child into account. It is more than just clothing and food.

It is a tragic story, I hope he is treated accordingly in jail.
