F-35 fighter jet remains plagued by ‘deficiencies’: Pentagon
The US Defense Department has warned that the highly advanced F-35 fighter jet remains plagued by dangerous problems that will further complicate the most expensive weapons project in history.

The report, which was prepared by Michael Gilmore, the Pentagon’s director of operational test and evaluation, raises serious questions about whether the US military should risk committing itself to buying billions of dollars of the F-35s before they have demonstrated they are fit for combat.

The fifth-generation stealth warplanes, which are being built in three different versions by Lockheed Martin Corp, will form the backbone of the military's future fighter fleet.

In the latest blow to the program, engineers uncovered numerous technical problems during extensive testing of the newest versions of the F-35, the Pentagon report found, adding to a list of issues including software bugs, technical glitches and cost overruns.

Our tax dollars at work. The most expensive fighter to date, and it still doesn't perform as promised.

it's a failed project

by the time they get it functioning adequately the next gen fighters will be out

Russia has already leaked some data on their latest super fighter jet that can only be taken out by the s-500 system

Every dark cloud has a silver lining, the glass is half full, and you're absolutely right, the F35 is to hot to land on asphalt. Yet another of it's design flaws.

And you guy's believe Iran's PressTV about this? The development hell and dollars wasted has been a huge debacle, but as it stands the F-35 is an effective fighter/nuclear-capable bomber.

Software bugs, glitches and cost over runs.

All totally normal when developing a complex new fighter.

Iran wish they had something as advanced,.

Happens with every new fighter ever built. People need to stop getting their panties in a wad over propaganda. Do they really think that Iran wants the US to build the F-35? It will have the capability to tear Iran a new asshole.

The F35's capability of tearing up new assholes is not in doubt here (once the bugs are sorted out), only its cost effectiveness in doing so.

Think of it like this, with several cheap and sensibly designed aircraft for different purposes, instead of a single expensive and ugly multi-purpose duck that isn't especially good at anything, you could have torn up twice as many assholes for half the cost.

That round number is pretty close to an actual calculation BTW.

They don't make them like they once did. This jet (Lockheed F 104 Starfighter) was developed and built in the 1950s basically from scratch.. jets were a"new thing" back then. Cost was about $1.4 million per plane.

another US made jet developed and built from the 1950s through the 1970s. Cost was about $2.4 million, and very efficient with few deficiencies or problems.

A smart country knows when to cut their loses and develop a true fighter that is state of the art and affordable.

This WILL NEVER HAPPEN as the lobby is way too strong for it to get killed. I almost believe it's intentional

No nation will buy this joke and it obsolete even if it worked.

We should probably buy Russian fighters. It would be far cheaper, better tech, and bypass the corrupt IS military industrial lobby.

Or this:

The F-111. We used it up until recently.
Nothing can do what this thing could do.
We kept it for years but with the delay of the F-35, we had to get some more Super Hornets.

Belly landing.
