I found out there's a British poke nuke film called Threads which makes the day after look like smurfs on ice, i'm too scared to get it. I know it'll bring me down. any advice? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47194768 I can't think of seeing a more disturbing movie than Threads. Fair warning if you watch it. |

I guarantee, it will give you nightmares. The world you know is just a sugar-coated topping; there is another world below it- the REAL world, and if you want to survive it, you'd better learn to pull the trigger!!! -BLADE |

Michael Deschain User ID: 69061168 United States 02/06/2016 11:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Watch/read Cormac McCarthy's The Road....it isn't frightening but it is effin sad. Totally a unique take on the nuclear winter sub genre. Quoting: Michael Deschain The road isn't about nuclear winter. It's about an undefined man-made disaster that kills all vegetation on the planet. I haven't read it since it's initial release, perhaps you're right though? Searching the web there are a few articles that allude to it being a nuclear winter..but perhaps they drew the same conclusion as I. Either way, there are a shit ton of similarities with the gray, overcast setting and fires still burning throughout. Some links [link to www.stufftoblowyourmind.com] Some comments here, suggest it could have been the result of a super volcano. [link to thepoplartree.wordpress.com (secure)] physics forum, many here suggest NW possibility. [link to www.physicsforums.com (secure)] Point being, just because McCarthy didn't say it was this or that, which he is often wont to do in his writing, doesn't negate the extreme similarities to a nuclear winter situation.
