It just seems to drone on forEVER. Everytime I hear it I think of the movie Forrest Gump, and I'm thinking.... man I wish this bitch would hurry up and just jump already so this fucking song can be over. But I guess that's just me. |

"Stairway" is an epic, layered thing that builds to a crescendo. You might hate it or call it played out, but those things don't take away from it one bit. "Hey Jude" is another one. "More Than a Feeling" is another Actually, "More Than a Feeling" might be the greatest of all time. Hear me out: IT's got that classic Rock N Roll chord progression but modernized, it's about a girl that got away, soaring vocals, acoustic intro, it's universal, it's hard yet accessible, it kicks your ass, and you can't get it loud enough. Yep, the Greatest Rock song of all time is Boston's "More Than a Feeling" |

Almost all bands have that problem, except Led Zeppelin. Beatles, CCR, they all had that dilemma. But the most overrated band, and horrible musicians would have to be "The Doors", just awful musicians. itbeme |

Stairway to Heaven was stolen. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71227908 [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Well, it certainly wasn't stolen from that. That's like saying Pink Floyd stole DSoM from The Wizard of Oz. Adversity is inevitable, misery is optional. Do or do not. There is no try. Please, go download Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and And Justice for all and repent of this madness. Three greatest metal albums ever, all by the same band. Enter Sandman is like gumball pop compared to anything off those albums. Ok, but sooooo weak in comparison. |

Ok, but sooooo weak in comparison. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54153377 That is why it's a strong entry for Metallica. The thrash stuff isn't strictly "Rock" it's Metal, and thrash, so it's TWO sub-genres away from OP's premise. Enter Sandman, however, is a lot closer to straight Rock. It also reaches a wider audience as a result. This isn't "What's your favorite rock song of all time?" the question is "What's the greatest?" You may not like the greatest song of all time. Boston's "More Than a Feeling" is not MY favorite song, but a close analysis of the song and it's enduring popularity make it a clear candidate for OP's thread and the final answer. I don't define great as big seller. Most bands have many besides better than their hits. More than a feeling is a cool song, but nowhere near greatest IMO |
