According to a poll released by Georgia-based Opinion Savvy on Friday, the business mogul is leading the Republican field with 36 percent support in the state. He is followed by Iowa caucus winner Sen. Ted Cruz, whose support stands at 19 percent in the poll. Sen. Marco Rubio and former Florida governor Jeb Bush have 15 percent and 11 percent of support respectively, the poll revealed. They are followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 9 percent and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson with 5 percent. |

[link to www.usatoday.com] CHARLESTON, S.C. — There is so much at stake in the 2016 elections — including South Carolina's reputation as the maker of Republican nominees and presidents. Starting in 1980, South Carolina Republicans had picked the eventual nominee (and sometimes the president) every four years. But their streak ended in 2012 when Newt Gingrich took the state but lost the nomination, and now members of the S.C. GOP want to start a new one. |
