I can't find that post anymore but I know I saw the title which just engraved itself into my mind. I was on my way out and upon my return searching for that post it was gone.

Need some advice on that equation.

Need to know if the 8i per mile formula is a real equation or just something made-up. If not made-up, is the 2,9mi Horizon a made-up assessment. If both are scientific statements then, what's up with that equation? How could the Horizon curve just 24 inches? NEED ADVICE!

do the math. Earth is about 8,000 mi. diameter on average.

apply the numbers to this:

Ah thanks for that link!!!

But do you think the 8i per mile formula is a real equation or just something made-up?

Or is the 2,9mi Horizon a made-up assessment?

Because both CAN'T BE RIGHT a 24 inch sloping Horizon I could still see over!

Yeah squared, like when you tile your floor.

Still, 8 inches per mile then the 2.9mi Horizon curves by 24 inches. CAN'T BE RIGHT!

One or the other is wrong, or both, I'm sure someone here on GLP will point out the flaw and make the appropriate corrections.

If you honestly believe this magical atmosphere can propel the soft moving or hardly moving clouds (and everything in the sky, including planes) at over 1,000 mph while maintaining the barely moving movement that they appear to have you are living in a magical fantasy world.

and if your magical fantasy world somehow did propel those airplanes at 1,000 mph in the same direction as earth, can you imagine the chaos when they fly against said atmosphere? LOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and at the end of the day, I can't even get upset with anyone who gets upset with my remarks because I understand the psychology behind your cognitive processes.

Just remember, you're on a conspiracy site, nothing is a coincidence, the one thing you can't question is what we live on and what space is.

if the dia. of earth = 8,000 miles that's 42,240,000 feet.

so if we apply the formula of:

PA/PT = PT/PB

where:

PB = the distance above earth's surface that your eye is (about 5')

PA = diameter of earth plus PB

PT= The distance in feet to the horizon

We are solving for PT, thus PT = X

So, simplified we have:

42,240,005/X = X/5

Do the maths and X= 14,533' or 2.9 miles.

keep in mind that the 2.9 mile to horizon formula is based off of an eye level height at about 5' above ground.

There is a power law at work, so even small changes in height above the ground have huge changes in distance to horizon.

example, standing on just a 100' hill will allow you to see 13 miles to horizon. 100' in height gained 10 miles! See the power law at work now?

I'm in agreement with you that Horizon is 2.9mi, but that would make the formula on that link rubbish. Because both scientific statement CAN'T BE RIGHT or the 2.9mi Horizon would slope due to earth's surface curves approximately 8 inches in one mile for a total curvature on 24 inches.

I think most dogs can see over 24inches.

Re: I saw yesterday a post about: 2.9mi Horizon (x) 8in-per-mile formula claim earth curves (=) 24 inches. NEED ADVICE!
the 8" per mile works like this:

you have to add the previous mile's 8" plus the new8" to every mile. So for 3 miles you'd have

Mile 1 = 8"
Mile 2 = 8"+8"
Mile 3 = 8"+8"=8"

thus, 8 + (8+8) + (8+8+8) and you get 56" or just under 5'. There is some rounding so that's why the number is a bit short.

It's a bit complex what you're proposing.

Because the earth is said to be 25,000mi in circumference, using your formula at the 25th-thousand-mile the earth would slope by what, 2million inches?

Maybe the Horizon statement is wrong.

Yes the circumference is the measurement around the spherical earth, its diameter is a clear transverse right thru its center. And 8inches per mile earth curve is a 24 inch curvature at 2.9 miles.

Its complex, don't worry someone with authority is due to arrive and make the corrections of the previous authorities.
