Fukushima is a massive problem for these spurious claims. [link to www.counterpunch.org] Consider also that in the event of nuclear war, which would knock out power, each nuclear power plant would be converted into a nuclear bomb as the cooling system would cease to function. I think that the reporting of the situation is mostly accurate and honest. They may have hidden things or lied in the beginning of the crisis but only because it was in the best interests of the population. A lot of this is because...you know...its TEPCO (the heartless, faceless, soulless mega-corp) and the Nuclear (a word and technology that inspires fear and suspicion) and The Simpsons certainly helps.
