Girls went to bed every night with rollers or orange juice cans in their hair.

and plenty of women went shopping with curlers in their hair. Like they had somewhere better to be later that day

I remember my older sister rolling her hair on orange juice cans...and my mom would roll her hair on brush rollers, using strait picks to hold them in place.

She'd put a bandanna around her head in either the "Heidi" style (tied in back at the nape) or the "Aunt Jemima" style (tied in front above her forehead) before she went shopping. It looked fresh & cute, for some reason.

Then she'd leave the rollers in/bandanna on until she relaxed on the couch in the evening, taking them all out & scratching her head for a long time. It must have been uncomfortable...but it was like her go-to hair style for an average day. Funny, but endearing. I never really thought of it very much before.

The old gal died 6 weeks ago, 80 yrs old. Her rollers and her favorite bandanna are here with me. Good memories.

I have two older sisters who have passed. They were good sisters and I miss them.

I remember them wearing poodle skirts and saddle shoes when they were in High School.
