They are the ones in control of everything you see, and are the most familiar with the processes involved in presenting the images on the Website....... If you don't believe them then be my guest and let your imagination run wild.

As for myself, it answered all the questions I had...... with the possible exception of why the dark line that is now on the C2 sensor as well. I may have to write them again.

Odd that it first appears on C3 around Oct 18 on the far right hand side of the image and appears to be a shadow of the Venus image. But the Venus image continues to move away from it, and now, the shadow has come to a complete stop and Venus is out of the picture.

crazy

If it was a damaged device, it would never have moved and would not have shown up on C2

Yes I've noticed that too.Back on nov 18th and earlier that "shadow" seemed to follow Venus right across the Sun, but now has STOPPED at the 10:00 position. If you look far back enough you can actually see this "shadow" track right along with Venus (making you think that it was some sort of an anomoly attached to Venus). But now that Venus is gone and the Shadow has stopped.....Hummmmmmmm

I'm guilty of it too at times, but it is quite evident that many people here do not take the time to read some of the posts prior to the last one before asking a question or making a comment......... Or is it that they don't care what anyone else says as long as they get their two cents in? Oh Well..... kinda make one not really give a damn, at least I satisfied my curiosity after becoming curious.

to the poster from Tennessee, from my house I have a full unobstructed view of the western horizon. I have seen " something" just as you mention right below the sun as it sets, but it is rapid in appearance and disappearance. I am always in my kitchen near sunset and keep 'seeing' things but cant quite get a full clear view. I have a welders lens that I pull out to look but it is not easy to see, it is as though you get a quick glimpse and boom it is gone. I will keep looking though as I mentioned my western view is completely unobstucted, maybe I can snap a photo.

Re: Here IT Comes !
Dont give up so easy. Whatever it is, it is certainly an anomoly of some type. Im still in a wait and see mode personally. I collect photos daily and only recently have I taken the time to put together a slide show. My first attempt of over 35 photos over a period of six months worked. But my test project was focused on the Magnetronic Images of the Sun. I will now put together the pictures of the Lasco 2 and 3 that I have and see what Ive got. If I find anything usefull for this discussion I will have to find a way to put it online (So bear with me on this and maybe the anomoly will pass)

Im not an expert in Magnetism, Electromagnetism etc et al. But I am an expert in looking at cells and cellular changes. I understand that there is never anything that is truely ideal. But one thing is for certain. Everything moves in cycles. All Biology, Chemistry and Mathmatics are tied to cycles. Ying-Yang whatever you want to call it. From my perspective, I view the Sun as a living organism. It was born, it does exist, and it will die. Just like us. Most Stars (according to College textbooks I still read) are Binary. Maybe, HUGE MAYBE, we are at the particular point in time to see our stars opposite companion. Just like the poles of magnetism has a positive and a negative charge. Look at the Magnetron images of the Sun and you will see massive hurricane type storms rolling across the Sun. These storms are made up of positive and negative particles and are amazing to watch. In the eye of every storm is a sunspot. But I digress, I have strayed from the subject. It could be an optical anomoly but it could also be something totally new. Lets keep our minds open at this point and observe. Thats all we can really do anyway. By the way I read the entire thread. This has got to be one of the most thought provoking issues ever raised at GLP. Good post everyone. Try to keep the negativity away until we can come to the solution to this anomoly. Peace to everyone. Even our enemies. Later

Like I said before, if you don't want to believe them then please feel free to let your imagination run wild. You will never have such a source of information from anyplace else.

I now understand how they process the raw data from SOHO and have a better appreciation for what they do...... the raw imagery would look pretty bad if they didn't process it.

In a little less than a week to possibly two weeks the artifact will be gone....... Because fortunately the detector was not damaged as I had previously feared.

Re: Here IT Comes !
Are there any shitstir2 I mean computer image processng pro's here who can refute this statement from nasa ?

Most of the images you are seeing are being downlinked from SOHO, reformatted into readable data, processed, and sent to the web for the public at about the quickest time frame of any mission from NASA.

We call this type data 'quicklook' data. Quicklook doesnt get the full processing and calibration as the science data to save much time in making 'real-time' data sets.

The background noise/signals must be subtracted out of the lasco images to bring up the corona/features you see in the images. We build these background/subtraction models in quicktime as well. One subtraction takes
7 full days worth of averaged C3 images. Since this orbit of the year has the bright planets traveling in and out of the field of view from both angles at these different speeds, the quicktime subtraction model program has a difficult time eliminating the overexposure of the planets (pixel
bleeding) and for that you see it as a shadow...those dark pixels you spoke of. The C3 detector is fine, I assure you.

When all the final image processing and calibrated models are made, we will have the backgrounds flat. Those shadows will be filled with actual signal and will be used for science analysis. When the planets are out of the field and we get 7 days of images the quicklook program will build a better subtraction and those pixels will dissapear. Remember, SOHO will be rolling to -180 degrees on Dec 5th, 2006. This will also confuse the subtraction for the first 7 days. We are already aware of this roll and have made adjustments to make it as un-noticable as we can....but it will show.

Thanks for your question...

i just read somewhere the other day you could see mercury just as the sun was rising looking towards the north east, supposed to be the only time you can see it with the naked eye. Maybe could be the same at sunset? i know planet x has been seen for months but i thought this was interesting,..heres a link to the story. [link to www.canada.com]

Re: Here IT Comes !
Scimitar,

I am quite puzzled by this Kevin Schenk's letter, because the "noise/signal" is supposedly from overexposure of the ccd (charged couple device) making the image dark, which suggests the ccd has memory and prolongs an image's display beyond the point where the actual object is. He says "The C3 detector is fine", so no problem there. If ccd memory is the problem, why wouldn't the image of Venus as it moved across the screen be a blur of successive white or dark images rather than the discrete image which this dark object and associated line bleed IS. Noise on a moving object would create a blurred line, not what we see.

I find it interesting too, as AC 2993 pointed out with the sun's rays (p 7), that this dark object with its associated line bleed (over exposure of the ccds) is overshadowed by an expanding CME which indicates that the dark object (phenomenon of an inverted image due to the object being too strong a light source for the detectors) is more distant than the sun.....

Which means that if it is Planet X, it is still being slowed up by the sun, since light repels. I wonder if we really will have a binary sun system out of this as 'Mary's Message to the World' suggests.

Also notice the amount of solar flares kicking off parralel to the anomaly,

I gotta say i was one of planet X's biggest cynics when i first learned of it, even to the point of writing an angry email to a Nibiru site that takes money off people, but this business has got me lil bit spooked, and why it never got pinned!?!?!

AC 2993...

What you describe about the minimal viewing time is accurate. I would say you can only view (semi-clearly) for about 15 to 20 minutes before it fades away...

It is always below the sun, and more south than north...

Keep watching...I think everyone will see it.

Re: Here IT Comes !
Would like to throw something out there for everyone. Im not a practiced sungazer, but when the opportunity arrises that Im up early enough or just in the right place, Ill watch the sun directly for a few seconds... When I first started gazing, last spring time, Id notice only a single sunspot when I closed my eyes.. The last couple months, after givin the sun a good stare down, generally in the AM, Id notice a different spot, along side the sun. Actually, up a tad and to the left.. Didnt think much of it until now. scratching

But Im puzzled, is the SOHO image reversed??

ie, the image we are seeing is actually lower and to the right of the sun, NOT above to the left??

Either way, Ive always known that there is something funny going on out there. Who are we, MANKIND, to say we KNOW JACK DIDLY!!!

Re: Here IT Comes !
I'm pretty sure its being caused by Venus.

Watch the video full screen from Friday [link to lasco-www.nrl.navy.mil] and Saturday [link to lasco-www.nrl.navy.mil]

You can see its very close to being a reflection of Venus. even has the lines coming out from the sides.
 Quoting: Atma

I took a long hard look at the magnified version [link to sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov]

and it may sound simplistic, but if you simply measure the lines that radiate out from the sides of Venus and compare them the the 'darkened' lines of the anomaly, the dark lines are about 50% longer and inconsistant proportionatly with the size etc, of Venus.

It just may be something erased.
