A strange Phenomena....Dreaming before Sleeping.

that's called the hypnogogic state. You are just tapping into your subconscious mind while still awake.. I do this on purpose if i need to go to sleep fast. It's crazy, I know, there is all this nutty stuff going on, random images, words, storlines . . . and when you learn how, you can go within and start watching it for a moment. Usually, you will either pop back out or just then go into sleep. And yes, this is the place where out of body stuff can happen as well...
I'd advise against going that route...

wow, that's exactly what happens, and I'll tell you I can't help it, I do it every single night for the last year, and can't stop it. I never did it before this, but once it started happening, I can't turn it off, it's like it does it on it's own. so weird, but you explained it to the T.

have you ever read book or things with words? are they clear or garbled?

they are very clear, I can always make out all the words.

I can relate, I did that just last night. With eyes open, I asked myself what the purpose of dreaming was. Then, almost magically I could see physical reality as a dream. All the details from the items on my floor, the floor itself and the walls became dreamlike.

It was like the answer was to experience reality.

and this even happens before i am all the way asleep too.

I used to have this while I was pregnant
I would dream I was walking then I would
trip and fall bur my body would jolt me awake
before I fell on my stomach

its so weird isn't it!!!!
Since i have been doing it, I have to go through at least 30 minutes each night trying to decipher what is real and what isn't, because i'm still awake and asleep at the same time!!

this is different, it's like i know i'm still awake can see the room around me, and have my eyes open even and still be in the first stages of dreaming...like everything is getting wierd, and i have memories that never happened, have feelings that i have never felt before, and see things, people, faces, and all the while my eyes can be open. sometimes they close for awhile, and even when i open them back up i am still dreaming, while i'm looking at the clock, or the room....

Reality is fascinating especially when you add dreaming to the mix of experiences. Lately, I have been studying hypnagogia which is the pre-sleep fractal imagery that can emerge as you enter into the dreamstate.

It has to be one of the most fasinating displays of visual geometrical animation that the mind can produce and it relates entirely to the emerging dream content because the fractal geometry is actually a meshing system.

I've observed it too many times to be a coincidence when it moves from a 2D pattern and the triangular fractal fluid animation then stretches into the 3rd dimensional dream reality forming the spacial depth of the third dimension.

In the dream, I have been able to strip the topololigy of the dream content like peeling away the bitmap layer and see the underlying fractal hypnagogic mesh. Again, many many times over.

In waking life, I believe I see it also in the fractal geometry of everything from wood grains, plants, cement. Like it is also present in the waking world as part of the rendering of reality.

sub conscious = another universe?

for example last night while i was getting ready to go to sleep I seen in my mind a whole scerio of something that never happened and it felt real, and was still awake, and had to question myslef several times if it was real or was i dreaming, and i sat up got a drink, checked my alarm, and it was still so vivid in my head, like it actually happened, and i had never even fell asleep yet.

This has been happening to me recently. Usually after I've toked and start falling asleep too early. I don't fight the sleep , but I do think about how I'd rather not so soon (before 9:30-10pm).

Once I realize I'm dreaming I wake myself and little to no time has passed with a matrix-like injection of dream experience

I'd like to know how to induce it 100%

i will start having these conversations and think of whole articles of knowledge that seems correct and real

I don't do any drugs...I do drink, but on the night's that i do drink it does not happen, it only happens when i lay down sober.
I swear to god i can be laying there awake and with my eyes open and i start to dream...sometimes it happens when i close my eyes, but other times i can be staring at the wall, and it happens...weird thoughts and memories start coming in, things that never happened, and it's like whoah....this has never happened before,and i actually have to question myslelf, and i see people, that i've never seen before...faces....hear noises...and all while i'm still awake

Yes sorry. When I say dream here, I just mean the state of it happening. Eyes open looking around, still moving at will.. I see myself here, but feel myself somewhere else. Relatable to you at all?

YES!!! what the hell is this state!!! What the hell is this at all??? I've never in my life until the last year had this happen..isn't this so wild?

I'm a master of lucid dreaming, and know how to control my dreams, been to many different realms, but this is new....this whole new different aspect of dreaming while awake is so new to me...i've never even heard of it before and now someone else is saying they have too...this is wild!!

Your post seems very candid and natural. Are you too honest for your own good irl, super nice guy type?

what if this is a new thing....? To dream while awake? what if this is a new thing that is happening to us dreamers?

Sleep is a transition of attention.

Nice girl:) no this is a very honest question, and something that i've been very curious about since it started happening.

It's exciting, gives you a new way to look at the experience.
