What does "Israel" mean?
Is = Isis - Egyptian goddess; title "Divine One"

Ra = Egyptian sun god

El = El is descended from Mesopotamian religion. He was the high god of a pantheon like the Sumerian god An and the Babylonian god Anu.

Put them all together and you have Is-ra-el = Israel

the egyptians were a solar culture.

the hebrews were a lunar culture.

to the hebrews, the "god" of the egyptians was not "god"(el).

is RA el means "is RA god?".

It was the Sumerians who developed the lunar calendar, not the Hebrews. The lunar calendar was adopted because the moon was easier to map out than was the sun. It really had nothing to do with the "gods."

The Essene community in Qumran had two calendars; a 364 day solar calendar and a 28 day lunar one.

Re: What does "Israel" mean?
In Genesis (Gene of Isis) 32:22, the Patriach Jacob wrestles with MAN who changes his name to Israel. Who or what was this "Man"? Notice how the "Man" asks permission to be allowed to go ... was Jacob drawing circles on the ground and conjuring demons? Ceremonial Magick at its finest!

32:22 The same night he got up and took his two wives, his two maids, and his eleven children, and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.
32:23 He took them and sent them across the stream, and likewise everything that he had.
32:24 Jacob was left alone; and a man wrestled with him until daybreak.
32:25 When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he struck him on the hip socket; and Jacob's hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.
32:26 Then he said, "Let me go, for the day is breaking." But Jacob said, "I will not let you go, unless you bless me."
32:27 So he said to him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Jacob."
32:28 Then the man said, "You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed."
32:29 Then Jacob asked him, "Please tell me your name." But he said, "Why is it that you ask my name?" And there he blessed him.
32:30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, "For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life is preserved."
32:31 The sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, limping because of his hip

ra the father, is the son, and el the holy spirit
isis is neither male nor female but rather an androgynous being
the hebraim were the priests in pharoah's egypt
it is not clear whether they worship el or yhwh or the adonai (the lords) but at yom kippur the day of at-one-ment, in the shema prayer they pray/praise that the lord(s) and the god have become one (which they were not before) ... either el or yhwh is the real god and the other is the adversary (satan) ... anyway, this is clearly not a monotheistic religion ... one, some, or all of these semi-distinct and semi-separate deities are not for the goyim who are subhuman without rights ... of course you mus be a licensed expert in talmudic legalistic (levitical) doublespeak to say any of this for sure

The bible is nothing but a fairy tale.

You realize this, of course. Correct?

The Jewish Bible is a work of fiction. A collection of folk tales, gathered from both the primitive and advanced cultures that nomadic Jews came into contact with, as they roamed around the area, stealing goats and pilfering trinkets, back in the days of the pharoah and other assorted middle east god-kings.

The bible was not written by G-d, God, god, Gawd, or whatever. The "god" who may or may not even exist.

Many, many gods have been invented by man, over the millenia, and around the world, in order to give him something to hold on to, like some sort of cosmic security blanket.

From the southern reaches of the Americas, to the Arctic Circle, to the vast outback of Australia, to the highlands of the Himalayas, to the deserts of the Middle East, wherever humans exist, various and sundry groupings of people have developed the concept of "god" in order to help them explain the mysteries of life, and to help them feel that they are not alone in the universe.

The supposedly all-powerful "god" of the jews was actually a latecomer in this exercise. The earliest known "god" to have the honor of being eulogized in written (actually, picture) form was the creator spirit of the Aboriginal peoples of the land that is now known as Australia.

While the concept of "god" may be comforting at times, and politically useful to those who seek to bedazzle and flim flam the naive, there is, and has never been, any actual proof that ANY of these gods has ever existed, in this world, or any other.

I am sure that you are aware of this.

Like I said.

The Jewish "god" is nothing more than a convenient fiction. A tool, to be used to bedazzle and befuddle the minds of those who have had the misfortune of being born on the lower end of the bell curve.

I just don't get it. I am a Christian, a youth pastor infact, and I read all these crazy debates on bulletin boards and see so many angry Christians bashing those who don't believe in Christ!!! Since when did Jesus become someone who slammed the doubters. The ones he had the problems with were the church people of the day (Pharisees) who thought they were something so great and all the rest of the people had no chance and were going to hell. Fellow Christians have some compassion instead of bashing and condeming. Maybe take sometime and pray for those who are doubting or angry at God, and maybe you'll see more of a difference than just throwing gasoline on the flames!!!!

Israel means struggle with God, it is a boy and girls name.

ISRAEL is from the Hebrew YISRAEL, meaning TO FIGHT or TO RULE (Kolatch, Alfred J. 1984. The Complete Dictionary of English and Hebrew First Names. Middle Village: Jonathan David. 251, 255).

ISRAEL is derived from the words SARA meaning TO STRUGGLE, STRIVE, CONTEND, WRESTLE and EL meaning GOD.

ISRAEL - GOD WRESTLER.

ISRAEL is also an anagram for SARIEL, MINISTERING ANGEL.

My views are that it has a connection to India because the Song of Songs of India is the The Gita and it is all about the struggle with God.

Re: What does "Israel" mean?
k, after i said isis-ra-el like 100 times on here.

1. there is no master race. We are ALL, ALL created equal. Some of us have defects but we can not help that. Karma is a bitch at times.

2. believe it or not, much of the bible is true. One needs to intemperate some of it. For example, there are UFOs in the Bible as well as genetic hybridization (beginning part). As far as the New Testament goes, we still are not certain. Some of it may have been skewed and changed up to fit with the pagan ideals. Book of revelations-serpent from the sea translates to nations (nashon = serpent) from the sea(perhaps an organization of nations such as NATO)

3. HEX-HEX-HEX = 666, HEXagram has 6 points, 6 lines and 6 angles inside which makes of the hexagon. The blue lines represent the prospects for dominating the ME land from the Euphrates to the Nile.
Miracles happen, not in opposition to Nature, but in opposition to what we know of Nature.
