What does "Israel" mean?

Israeli archaeology digs up "monotheistic" temples only to find various "gods" statues for worship. Jehova was usually represented as a dwarf with a large phallus. Female deities had altars in these "monotheistic" temples as well.
This is why not much mention is made when a newly discovered
temple is unearthed. Does worship of a well endowed storm god seem to be the way to salvation?
