A relative of mine did not think a guy should ask her out to dinner on a first date. She always thought coffee or meeting for a cocktail should be a first date. Never dinner. Many of her friends were on Match, and they all agreed. Her and her husband's first meeting was at a Starbuck's.

Look dude a bit of advice , don't aim for coffee dates girls deserve a bit more spent on them . When I was young and dating I took them out for a meal maybe where there are a live band and romance will follow if you make them feel like they are number 1 .... The purpose of a coffee date is that you don't have to spend much time with the person. If you go out to dinner on a first date and you don't like the person, it could be a long evening with someone you'd rather not be with. Besides, you just spent $25+ dollars on someone you don't want to see again.
