It is extremely isolated and underpopulated. Think the hidden/unlisted desert bases in the us are secluded? try a continent covered in snow and ice.

Its covered in snow and ice! So easy to construct hidden places. Build a building, regular snowfall covers building minus a arched entrance, now your entire building is hidden on satellite images! You could build a city size amount of buildings conneceted by tunnels or even get fancy and use a dome and have a bubble city under the snow/hard ice.

Pretty much every major world power has a research base on Antarctica. The presence of all the worlds mightiest nations in one place should be a huge sign that its a important place.

Hell if you want to get into the psyop side of theorys how do you even know what it looks like, what the weather is like, or even where it really is. You could take a plane ride for hours and stand on the runway with a handheld gps you bought personally and it could say that your in Antarctica at the usa research base. But how do you know you just didnt fly in a big ass circle for hours, are now in alaska, with your gps being spoofed.
