Hmm - you think the Falklands would be better under Chinese rule?

No wonder there was never a Bulgarian empire.

Argentina has officially expanded the outer limits of its continental shelf beyond the UK-claimed Falkland Islands, following a UN commission ruling which increased its maritime territory by 35 percent to include the waters around the disputed islands.

Its a done deal, we have lost it, we no longer have the ability to project power to defend it any more anyway.
 Quoting: Dumachii

You'd be surprised what we can do...

Have a look at the deployments we have there and our nuke sub would be a hell of a deterrent they have no navy and no Airforce the Argentine alone can't do anything and if someone else wanted to join the party overtly or covertly we could still hold up well.
 Quoting: Anderson_G

Lmao. I do think understand where ppl get he idea that Britain cannot project power. She is far from alone.

Britards will send a flotilla to the area to beat up on Argentina again so they can win a war. They'll probably dig up Margret Thatchers corpse to lead the charge. Fucking pussies.

Yes exactly this, and they want dividens from company's drilling in the waters

It's the same reason Turkey manufactured the migrant crisis so they can maintain the occupation of Cyprus (and claim the oil) while at the same time getting memebrship of the EU.

Given that we got the job done last time, 6,000 miles from home on Argentina's own doorstep.

People forget, we still have the 4th largest military spend (more than Russia). Just because we're down on hardware/personnel, we still have the technology to fuck up pretty much anyone.

Yeah but the inhabitants, the Falkland Islanders choose to be a dependency.

By your arguement they have that right as they themselves live closer to the rocks than the Argentinian people do.

It's their choice or should we say that all none indigenous Argentinians need to leave South America?

Would he interesting to see what the UK thinks to this, can't see this going down well and can't actually see Argentina be able to police the waters either or the skies so we could still sail through and at our leisure

All Argentina could do is cry to the UN which won't actually amount to much

Sad thing is those kids didn't need to go through that.

I've no wish to see teens get mowed over by a professional army again but that shouldn't be mistaken for a lack of will to get the job done if it needs to be done.

Can't we veto this as a permanent UN security council member?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71909182

Unless we take it to the UNSC it can't be veto
 Quoting: Anderson_G

Then we should take it to the UNSC. It's not official yet. Looks like the Argies have jumped the gun, hence why London is quiet as well.

Otherwise, can you imagine how difficult life could get for the islanders.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71909182

It wouldn't actually change a thing all it would do is allow the Argies to give more umph to their complaints it wouldn't physically have an impact...

If other nations however decided to weigh in and say stop shipping to support Argentina or because Argentina says that they can't enter those waters then it could be more of an issue and require more of a British naval presence...

Argentina alone has no capability to do anything in regards to the Falklands unless they go full retard and use fishing boats and dingies to invade with.
