Strange things happen in remote places?
I've been blessed to be able to backpack and travel a lot over the last 20 years. Been to all 50 states, other countries, etc.

I've noticed most of the strange incidents I've had have occurred when I'm in remote places. I am not at all afraid of being far out in the middle of nowhere by myself so it's not my imagination going wild.

A couple examples:

While solo backpacking in the Weminuche wilderness a couple years ago I was awoken by a terrible sound. Not a lynx or cougar, I've heard both. I hadn't seen another soul in a couple days and many miles, but this was a somewhat human scream. Happened a few times, and the last time seemed to be from far overhead blink. Like way up in the sky...and mind you, I was camping at almost 13,000 feet so it wasn't like there was any terrain above me. This area is considered THE most remote in the entire continental USA.

Northern Ontario, fly in fish camp: Over 50 miles from the nearest village, which is itself fly in access only. I don't believe in bigfoot, but something that wasn't a bear but was big and hairy scared me sensless one night when I went out to take a leak. I'm not easily scared of animals. Been charged by both grizzly and moose and held my ground and kept my cool. But whatever this was left me with such a sense of dread I was paralyzed with fear for the only time in my life.

SW of Denali peak, Alaska. While hiking in along a glacier, again solo, I was up on a ridge taking a break. I noticed a grizz down below probably 1000 yards away. Watched it through binocs on and off as I ate a snack. Suddenly I saw it running so I picked up binocs and was less than happy to see it was heading my way more or less. Suddenly it turned back the way it had come from and charged straight into a brushy draw. There was a moment of silence and then a bright flash of light, like a very large firework went off or something. The bear runs back out of the brush, stops for a moment, and falls over dead! I didn't stick around to see what happened next.....

Anyone else have experiences like this in remote places? Not talking your local patch of woods or cabin up north, but REALLY remote places......

That looks interesting, I'll dig into it. But I'm not talking about your average foray into an 80 acre hunting plot, or local nature reserve. I'm talking really remote places.

Southeast Utah. Mongolia. Western Australia. etc. I think there may be remnants or portals or something in these areas......and I'm as analytical as they come. Bona fide research scientist in fact.

Now that's more like it. My best friend for years was a Russian. We were both into mountaineering. He had some wild stories of strange happenings, spending summers in Siberia. His dad was a professor and had a lot of time off so they'd go up there fishing and hiking. Always wanted to go there.

PS can't believe somebody 1 starred me, I thought this is a very appropriate topic.

I've experienced plenty of abnormal phenomenon in the most non-remote places.
